I don't know. I think Jindal appears to be doing a fantastic job. He's the squeaky wheel and he's on site and informed. He's advocating for his state and his people just as he should. He's not making stupid statements in that pursuit like Nagin did so without knowing exactly what he's doing, I'm giving him an A.
As for Obama, I think he's doing everything that can be done except magically fix the whole thing and make it go away. He's also not playing the media game very well and allowing frustrated, but ignorant people to blame him for things beyond his scope or ability. And, he's letting his critics use this as an opportunity to bash without basis. He got $20bn out of BP without a lawsuit or a fight. That, in my book, gets him an A. However, there is a very real problem with the moratorium. I think it's a reasonable response, but clearly there's a political portion and it may not have been necessary. You and I don't know, but there's a reasonable argument that it's not so I'm going to refrain from comment and be thankful he's being prudent.
The critics who are saying he should do this and that usually aren't familiar with what can and cannot be done or even the facts, but Obama's grade is B.
Jindal - A
Obama - B.
Obama should have initiated a moratorium on new drilling upon inauguration and reworked MMS and the whole Bush Cheney energy policy.
