Does not compute...
Again, I hated losing Miller, but it's over. Louisiana next year has a lot of big boys the SEC will be fighting over which is uncharacteristic for the state. LSU should be fine for the foreseeable future provided they sign who the need next class. I'd be more worried if the staff didn't have a long history of finding very good players that are not highly ranked. This class is not going to finish as strong as it started, but when 90% of your class has been filled before homecoming, it usually doesn't. Unlike most years, we're not hearing of any big potential surprises at the last minute. Mario Edwards is always a possibility, but he's looking more and more solid with FSU. Also, Jeremy Hill will be in this class, but I don't think he will count in the rankings.
Tracy Howard cancelled his visit at LSU this weekend and they're hoping that it will be rescheduled for next weekend. He's visiting UF this weekend. Rumor has it that Avery Johnson is also visiting UF this weekend (they're both from So Florida) so maybe Avery will be bugging him about LSU.
We might hear something positive from Lawrence Phillips this weekend as well as A&M commit, Corey Thompson who would replace Landon Collins in the defensive backfield for this class and Kwon Alexander.
Next weekend is Patterson's visit and hopefully Mario Edwards and Tracy Howard will be joining him. That will be the last visit for all of them, making LSU the freshest impression on their minds. Lots of ground to make up though so don't expect miracles. Still, LSU has a lot to offer these guys and it wouldn't be the first time a recruit came away impressed with LSU's facilities. Then there is Jeremy Liggins. All of the buzz is that he is looking hard at the in-state schools (MS), but supposedly he would jump to LSU when/if they offered. If LSU really wants a QB in this class, that's the most likely guy I think.
To recap:
Jeremy Hill (currently enrolled in class)
Kwon Alexander (LSU is in good shape)
Jeremy Liggins (LSU is in good shape)
Corey Thompson (visiting this weekend)
Lawrence Phillips (visiting this weekend)
Coradelle Patterson (visiting next weekend)
Tracy Howard (hopefully visiting next weekend)
Mario Edwards (hopefully visiting next weekend)

You do realize that while we are losing players, other schools are adding players, right?
I'm not sure what formula they use to compare classes of different size #'s, but I'm guessing having fewer players has to have some sort of impact too. Other schools are gaining ground and picking up big players. Small changes at the margin can have a big impact in the hyper competitive world of football recruiting.
The year is not over, so I could care less about our ranking at this exact second.
We finally stopped the bleeding from the BCSCG and Les Miles personality is taking over and we'll get back on track after chopping off our poisoned hand to save the body going forward. By this, I mean hot shot RB Jeremy Hill finally committed to LSU. It was a virtual lock that he was going to sign, so it was a gimme lay-up. But it was a huge gimme lay-up that will allow us to move forward as a program. Clearly the next two weekends are huge for the LSU program. We needed that momentum changer.
