The problem is, the Post is right. Laws like this are designed precisely to make sure that people who are more likely to vote Democrat are unable to vote. There is no evidence whatsoever that voter fraud is a widespread problem. Instead, it's a problem made up out of thin air to disenfranchise the poor and minorities.

Take this story from Chattanooga, Tennessee of an old lady who was denied a state photo ID because she didn't have the right documents the state demanded to get one.

This is the sort of person Republicans want to keep from voting, because they'll vote for Obama. The same reason Republicans don't want amnesty of any sort for illegal immigrants, or any sort of path to citizenship, or easier legal immigration. It's all about preserving power to advance their radical right-wing agenda. And if that requires going back to the dark ages of poll tests recast as ID laws, if that requires reversing this country's history of welcome to immigrants, what do they care? Despicable.
