Mike Detillier's Mock Draft - February 18, 2007

The NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis begins its yearly testing and timing sessions Wednesday. This will be one of the first showcases for the top talent in college football to impress NFL scouts, front-office personnel and coaches. While it is still a little early, here is my first take on how I believe the first round of 2007 draft will unfold.

1. Oakland Raiders, JaMarcus Russell, quarterback, LSU
2. Detroit Lions, Joe Thomas, offensive tackle, Wisconsin
*3. Tampa Bay Bucs, Calvin Johnson, wide receiver, Georgia Tech
*4. Cleveland Browns, Adrian Peterson, running back Oklahoma
5. Arizona Cardinals, Gaines Adams, defensive end, Clemson
6. Washington Redskins, Alan Branch, defensive tackle, Michigan
7. Minnesota Vikings, Brady Quinn, quarterback, Notre Dame
8. Houston Texans, Levi Brown, offensive tackle, Penn State

14. Carolina Panthers, Patrick Willis, middle linebacker, Ole Miss
15. Pittsburgh Steelers, Adam Carriker, defensive end, Nebraska
16. Green Bay Packers, Marshawn Lynch, running back, California
17. Jacksonville Jaguars, Ted Ginn Jr., wide receiver, Ohio State
18. Cincinnati Bengals, Charles Johnson, defensive end, Georgia
19. Tennessee Titans, Dwayne Jarrett, wide receiver, USC
20. New York Giants, Lawrence Timmons, outside linebacker, Florida State
21. Denver Broncos-, Aaron Ross, cornerback, Texas
22. Dallas Cowboys, Reggie Nelso, safety, Florida
23. Kansas City Chiefs, Robert Meachem, wide receiver, Tennessee
24. New England Patriots (from Seattle), Dwayne Bowe, wide receiver, LSU

27. New Orleans Saints, Darrelle Revis, cornerback, Pittsburgh

* There will be a coin toss to decide whether the Buccaneers or Browns end up selecting either third or fourth in the draft process.

I agree with the Carolina pick. i think they're targeting a MLB to replace Dan Morgan who can't get it together and stay healthy and Na'il Diggs who only has his name going for him at the Middle LBer spot.
