I have the thing running (with some outside help:no:)
but I think it will be while before I get to really play with all it's features.

Beryl's awesome. I love the way you can rotate the 4 desktops with the mouse-wheel. I tried to install it on the wife's system, but she hates how the windows are all "squishy" when she moves them.

Watch out, it's worse than crack! Too late, you've already fell in, there's no turning back, now.
muwahahhhhahhhhhhahhhhh

Since you made it this far, it's Beryl linky linky time:
Beryl Wiki (http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/Main_Page)
Beryl F.A.Q. (http://www.beryl-project.org/faq.php)
Beryl Plugins (http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/Plugins) and descriptions of each one.

Nice Skydome Backgrounds (http://www.flickr.com/groups/equirectangular/pool/)
For creating you own skydomes, take a digital camera, try and shoot an entire panorama shot (not normal side-to-side, but FULL 360 , side-to-side/up-and-down shots). Now, take all of the images and put them on a folder. Install the hugin application (apt-get install hugin). You can 'stitch' all of the images together to make one image. Use that image for your skydome and make sure to select the 'Animate Skydome' option in the Beryl-Manager.

Now, If I could just find a way for someone to get inside of the Superdome and do what I mentioned above (or send me the individual images) my SAINTS Beryl theme would be complete.

Wanna' screenshot of your Beryl Desktop? Screenshots will not do it justice, BUT, RecordMyDesktop (http://recordmydesktop.sourceforge.net) sure will!
This will get you going quick:
recordmydesktop --quick-subsampling --zero-compression --no-sound -fps 15Make it faster and smoother:

sudo beryl-manager --> Main Tab --> General Options

Uncheck 'Sync to Vblank' and 'Detect Refresh Rate'

Underneath the Detect Refresh Rate button, slide the 'Refresh Rate' slider all the way up to 200

Enjoy!

I tried to install it on the wife's system, but she hates how the windows are all "squishy" when she moves them.
Buikman, you can completely disable that or any of the Beryl plug-in functions or ANY aspect of each plug-in you want. There is truly NO limit to what can be controlled in Beryl. Use the Beryl-Manager.

edit ........
BTW, this is now working in FreeBSD (http://wiki.beryl-project.org/index.php/Install/FreeBSD). Don't know if it's stable, yet.
