I work at Our Lady of the Lake. We generally have openings in all positions. Hospitals aren't just for nurses. There are a number of management opportunities, we even have a VP position open. Information Systems, Security, Cooks, Caffeteria workers and anything health care related.

I've been a manager at the lake for a little over 2 years and would be happy to serve as a reference. You can check jobs at:

I see a lot of positions in the IT sector over there that are pretty unrealistic in terms of both job title and local talent. There's no way that a company of that size needs that many software development architects.

We are the alpha site for a number of medical software developers, Primarily CERNER, CLINVISION, and a few others. We develop and test most of this software before they distribute it to their other accounts.

Well, here's what struck me: your IS Programmer positions require a BS plus 3 years of experience, or 7 years experience. Your IS Architect position requires a BS or 5 years experience.

That makes no sense to me whatsoever. In almost all cases, an architect is a programmer who "graduates" from being hands-on with the code to take more of a management and design approach. Instead, these job requirements read like you what you want are techno-functional business analysts to do requirements gathering, gap analysis, configuration, and general support.

Not trying to argue or anything, just that something about the jobs don't jive to me, and I was a technical recruiter before I became a web developer, so I'm used to reading job requirements and reading between the lines. :)
