Well fellow Cub fans it looks like our rotation is set; that and the line-up should look something like this unless we make a trade (via Jacque Jones) for Vernon Wells.
Carlos Zambrano
Ted Lilly (signed last week)
Jason Marquis (just announced that he signed)
Rich Hill
Prior/Miller/Marshall
RF Alfonso Soriano (biggest free agent pick up this off season)
2B Mark DeRosa (another free agent we picked up)
1B Derrek Lee
3B Aramis Ramirez
CF Jacque Jones
C Michael Barret
LF Matt Murton
SS Cesar Izturis

Cubs look like they will be serious contenders this year.
I wish the Braves were spending this much money on free agents.

The Braves... one of those teams I use to love to hate but since the division change...well let's just say I don't like the Cardinals more but I cannot watch Atlanta as I've brought myself to be able to with the Mets since aforementioned division change.
As for being contenders; Cubs still are in a relatively weak division now since the Cardinals have lost most save Pooholes and the Lastros (second favorite team in Baseball). That being said despite the Cardinals winning the World Series they did it having only won 80 something games. Just the same if the Cubs have any luck as for their three monster starters (which they thankfully are not banking on) who've been hurt the last couple of years then they will have an over abundance of pitching and with that power lineup you're prediction could very well hold true. Lord I hope so.

The Braves get it done with a pitiful payroll. The Cubs can try to buy a ring, but it just isn't going to happen.

Wha, wha, what?????
Seriously the Braves were #3 in payroll in the MLB prior to the strike and switched between 3rd and 2nd each year thereafter until 1999. That toppled with the fact that their "fans" never show up for regular season games.

I'm hoping the Sox sign up K-Dice, but it looks like they & Boras are so far apart ($7-8M/season vs. $14M+) that the deal won't get done. Boras is the devil.

Scott Borass is indeed the Devil himself.

Agreed it is difficult to dislike anyone or anything more than the Yankees in Baseball but yes, I'd have to give the nod to Borass on this issue.

I think it's a crock of **** that the Sox won the bidding rights to this dude & now aren't going to be able to sign him.
At least they don't pay the bidding fee...

Boy was that a shakedown. Here, give me 50 million dollars and you have the right to talk to me about my contract. Anyone who fell for that needs to beat themselves up. The MLB stinks.
