New Orleans Saints vs. Oakland Raiders: grades

Full Story Nola.Com

Offense 3.5 fleur de lis (out of possible 4)
Drew Brees' stats in the first half - 14-of-18 for 202 yards with a touchdown and QB rating of 131.9 - would've been decent numbers for a full game. No. 9, who played as if it were Week 2 of the regular season and not the second week of the preseason, connected with seven receivers, including a nice deep ball to Nick Toon to set up the first touchdown.

Brees, ever the perfectionist, spent a couple extra seconds between plays in Toon and Kenny Stills' ears, giving the young players real-time pointers. The offense looked as high-octane as ever, and the running game was decent, if not spectacular.

For as good as the first team was, the second-stringers struggled mightily, ending their first three drives with turnovers. Seneca Wallace, locked in a battle with Luke McCown to back up Brees, had two miscues - a fumble on a sack that was scooped up for a touchdown and an interception that led to an Oakland field goal. Travaris Cadet had two fumbles in the third quarter, losing one.
