Incredible LSU Statistic

I apologize if this has been posted but I didn't see it referenced. I was reading this morning on tigerdroppings and I came across this stat:

Quote:
The Tigers lead the SEC in net punting with a 41.1-yard average. LSU has allowed just 7 return yards on 38 kicks.
I researched the article and it came from the Advocate: Special weapons | Sports | The Advocate

That's just under 2 ft. per return. I've never heard of anything even close to this. Holy Cow.

Chaz Henry at Florida one year only had 5 punts returned all year for 22 yards because he kicked it so high, and another year he had 5 returns for 21 yards.

The amazing thing is how many of Wing's punts have actually been short kicks where he showed some amazing accuracy pinning other teams inside the 10 or even the 5... those kicks are bringing down his average. Wing is a really impressive punter, he gets great distance and great airtime, he has amazing accuracy on his kicks and an ability to put all kind of "english" on the ball at will, he is an athlete plain and simple and I am not so sure he could not play another position if he was not a punter, and of course he can kick with either leg allowing him to kick outside of any kind of normal cadence which makes his athleticism all the more dangerous.

imagine if Morstead had that level of coverage for his punts.

Wanna know another impressive stat? LSU is 30-1 under Les Miles in night games on the road. No stopping the Les Express.

Funny but I would have bet BIG money that LSU hadn't even played 31 night games on the road during the Les Miles era.

When I first heard this game had been change to a prime time telecast, I truly wondered if there was any advantage for either team by moving it to the evening. As far as I know Bama doesn't/hasn't play(ed) nearly as many night football games as has LSU. In fact this year due to all the football networks eager to have the Tigers playing in their time slot, LSU has missed out on playing many of those evening games. Thus, this night game appears to be catering much more to the time slot LSU would prefer to play their big SEC contests. Oh if this game were only being played in Tiger Stadium this year!

So now I wonder if this stat is having an affect on the actual betting line for the game Saturday night. If I were a gambler, that would be a hard stat to ignore.

That road record actually goes back to Saban days. Lost at Tennessee in 2001 and beat them in the SECCG later that season and lost to Florida in 2008 the year Brandon Spikes pick sixed jarrett Lee and punted the ball into the stands.

Of the 480 minutes of total game time this season LSU has only trailed once by 6 minutes and 33 seconds in their opening game against Oregon. Happy trails to you Alabama!!! Go Tigers!!!!!

The stats I would like to see...Time ahead by more than 8 points(2 scores). that is when LSU's defense destroys people.
