Honestly, I doubt Bama cares. I hope to God Tiger fans don't brag about this, either.

Exactly.
I'll feel a whole lot better about our chances this year once Mettenberger shows what he can do with our offense.

Man if we had one of the top 80 QBs in Div I last year we would have won it all. Im excited about Mett, too...cautiously though

I love the Respect the SEC has earned over the years. 5 SEC teams in the TOP 10 and 7 SEC teams in the TOP 25. And I definitely Love seeing LSU as #1, now prove it on the field.

LSU did not lose as much as bammer and also in a sense the have addition by subtraction of the Lee/Jefferson saga and should be much improved at the Qb position ,I think that's what they are thinking and honestly it really dont matter after last season who is number one bama proved that last season. Didn't win conference/ division and didn't even win the most important game on their schedule in their house and still made it . College football is a popularity contest between whoever is the best 4 teams at the end of the season ,whoever they want in the game is what your going to get

^^This^^
Excited to see how this season shakes out without the bar fight drama and the QB controversy.
Oh when I think of what could have been last year had certain other decisions been made.

Let's hope they prove it cause they sure as hell didn't look Number 1 to me with that devastating shut out in the championship. I am shocked they are number 1 after that.

I would not want to be #1 before the season begins.Too much pressure too early.Gives the rival teams a big purple and gold TARGET.

LSU has a very favorable schedule this season and they're loaded. The entire D-Line is comprised of first round draft picks. They lose their top WR, CB and two terrible QBs. They're easily the team to beat in the SEC.

Normally I'd agree with you, but I think not finishing it last year after being #1 for so long will far beat out any desires to slack off or allow an upset.
Besides, the difference between #1 and #2 is merely semantics in the BCS era. Teams are going to want to beat #2 just as bad as #1.
But as you saw in the BCSCG, Alabama is more likely to underachieve since they won the title since they aren't as motivated to prove themselves.
What would really be interesting is if LSU Bama meet in the BCSCG again. haha That would be HILARIOUS! (Well, only if LSU won it the second time.) haha

No, VW, I'd appreciate it if both teams in 2013 BSCCG BOTH win their divisions & conference titles, instead of "unique" circumstances like BCS' favoring name, historical recognition, while ignoring Stanford, OSU who IMHO, got hosed even in post-season rankings at #3 after classic Fiesta Bowl win that even the most diehard SEC has to admit was very best, competitive of last year's BCS-bowls behind Oregon-Wisconsin. It's temping to conclude if you're an OSU fan that whole experience was a waste of time and don't give me "we'll they lost to Iowa St" drivel. It's unnerving to see Big 12 officials disavow instant replay's accuracy or instituting it like other conferences during in-game moments to examine possible bad calls. The rate of difficulty determining missed FG's in a game like OSU/IOSU's because situations like it are rare, still that lack of instant replay in this instance arguably cost OSU the game, and enough reinforcement to critics convinced they didn't belong in BSCCG.

What are you even talking about? I'm a huge LSU fan and even I can admit that Alabama deserved to be in the BCSCG. LSU would have wiped the floor against OSU (or any of the other teams you named.) As much as I hate to admit it, Alabama was the only team that could beat LSU last year and they deserved to get in based upon the system they agreed to at the beginning of the year. Even having a 4-team playoff would not have altered the end result as both LSU and Bama would have cruised to the same conclusion, just one week later.
I'd rather LSU wipe the floor with Bama this season and not even entertain a debate about it. However I could also appreciate watching the rest of the country go bananas as Nick Saban and Les Miles completely take over college football just because something like this will never ever happen again in college football. It would just be interesting to see from a historical perspective.

Except that from the nation's perspective, both of the LSU-Alabama games last year were over-hyped duds, and the championship game became the long-awaited tipping point for playoff reform. Everyone rates the SEC as well established as being the best conference, but that doesn't mean there isn't some stink also.
In LSU this season, I think we'll see the loose Les Miles riverboat gambler guy now that he has QB's who can open things up. In Alabama, I think you'll see the usual Saban team that grows quietly and steadily into a team worthy of playing for the title.
