Mod Title Edit: Tyrann Mathieu Kick Off Team [MERGED]
I'm not an LSU fan. Im a Kentucky fan and I do follow SEC football closely. I just wanted to know what you guys thought about Tyrann Mathieu as a pro. He's an amazing college football player, but do you guys think he would make a impact in the NFL? Would you want the Saints to possibly draft him one day?

Undersized, has a bad attitude. Will have to show last season was not a once in a lifetime season.
This season will decide whether he is a top 10 pick or 4th round pick, for his sake, i hope he realizes that.
My personal opinion, to soon to know how he would be as a pro.
Just an honest evaluation.

Bob sanders in his prime at best. Hopefully without injury and he is better when they put him in the slot and at safety.

His freshmen and sophomore seasons were really good. He does have off the field baggage though.

He's definitely a playmaker, but more of an average corner IMO. From stuff I've read, he'd probably be better suited to play safety (which we did see some of last season). If he has a season like he had last season, he'll get drafted high based on his playmaking ability--which may or may not be a good idea. He'll definitely be a heckuva punt returner!
But to be totally honest, i don't know enough about him or that position to give a valuable enough opinion! He's fun to watch though.

You meant that in a GOOD way right? If not ... I'd like to know where or at what point in your evaluation process did you come to the conclusion that this guy has a bad attitude.

Yes has an attitude but he has no off field issues . If so do you care to share with us?

Perhaps he was referring to the failed drug test. I'm wondering where the bad attitude perception are coming from.

terribly overrated as a prospect, will never be able to play corner in the pros if you ask me. He is a gambler and lacks size and top end speed to play corner. His future in the pros will in my opinion be restricted to nickel corner and kick returner.

2nd round pick...then again, if he plays lights out again, will probably be a top ten. No way he plays safety.

He'll get torched at CB in the NFL. Safety is his only hope. That and Punt returner

Agree. I had a conversation the other day with a current NFL asst. coach and asked him. He pretty much said the same thing.
Great college player but it takes more to be a pro - especially when you've got receivers who can run just as fast and can catch the ball over your head without even trying.

He's a great playmaker on a great college football team.
IMO, he doesn't have the size or the skillset to be anything better than a nickel corner in the NFL, if that.
Several games last year, got beat one on one by average college receivers.
His best hope is on special teams or MAYBE safety because he does have good ball skills.
