That is the $64,000 question Broadmoor. I see more older (50's-70's) people than I do college age. It is disheartening to know that last Saturday morning there were more people at Joe Yenni stadium for the JPRD East Bank 7 year old football championship then there was last night for a college game.

Rumor has it that Tulane offered the head coaching job to Tommy Bowden and he declined it.
Also, Kaare Johnson on 690am is reporting that the financial commitments to build a 30k-seat on-campus stadium (with the possibility of upper deck additions down the road) have been met thanks to sizeable contributions from Tom Benson and TB Bucs owner Malcolm Glazer.

The TP beat writer Nunez has done a horrible job with her "reporting".
Her claim of "offered" is vague and also refuted:
FootballScoop - The Scoop
Tulane: There is a report out there that Tulane offered the job to Tommy Bowden, who then declined it. Our sources tell us that is not the case. We are hearing that Rich Rod is their first choice.
Twitter--Garland Gillen
My sources at #Tulane say Tommy Bowden interviewed, but never offered the job.
Twitter--Scott Kushner
Again, the word "offer" is opaque but every source I have adamantly insists #Tulane did not "offer" Tommy Bowden the HC job.

It is going to be great going to an outside college football game in New Orleans, I went to couple of Tad Gormley games but won't be the same expirence as a proper Tulane on campus stadium. They hope to have it built for Oct. 2013. This is no joke, it is going to happen. I suspect Rich Rod is going to be the coach and that they get into a BCS conference soon after. Great day for Tulane.

I'm happy they are finally getting a new stadium. Now I can watch a Tulane home game without seeing all of those empty seats in the background.

His daughter is a Greenie. He gives loads of soccer stuff, football packages and autographed sports paraphenalia every year to the Hullabaloo Homecoming Auction. His wife even heads up organizing it.
It's Benson's kind way of getting Tulane out of his Dome.
He'll save $$ now that he won't have to run the AC and lights on Saturdays.

Bowden has reportedly taken his name out of the running. He does not want to get back into coaching.
at this time.

It is interesting that pretty much every year they auction off tickets to the Saints-Bucs game...in Tampa. It's the Bucs donating, not the Saints.

OSU football notebook: Tulane contacts Mike Gundy about Todd Monken | NewsOK.com
Quote:
Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said Tuesday that Tulane has contacted him about offensive coordinator Todd Monken in regards to the school's head coaching vacancy. . . . “I worry about losing every guy on my staff, to be honest with you,” Gundy said. “We do everything we can to keep them. Our administration has been tremendous in that area. But everybody has to do what's best for their family.” . . . Monken, who returned to OSU this season after serving as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach under Les Miles from 2002-04, has never been a head coach but has had two previous coaching stints in Louisiana. He was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach for LSU from 2005-06 and was the running backs coach, wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Louisiana Tech from 2000-01.
“Everything needs to take place at a later time,” Gundy said of where the process goes from here. “But really, what happens now, all this communication goes on between people other than the people involved. It's people behind the scenes that do all that. We've just taken the preliminary part of it, and from that point on, they take it over. I won't be involved in it anymore, and to a certain extent, Todd won't either.”
