Former Techster Mulkey deflects LSU speculation
Associated Press

Mulkey said:

"I just don't even think making a comment about any of the job openings is appropriate. Baylor treats me great. We are a Top 25 team. I get paid great at Baylor. It's nothing more than another job that is open, just like the Florida job, just like the Michigan job, just like the Arkansas job.

"You hear it (speculation). You hear it all the time. Anybody who is young and has built a program, it goes without saying that any job opening your name is somehow going to be attached to it. When job openings come up, there's speculation and things to write about. ... It's just part of it. It's part of the profession."

Guess Mulkey would feel that Tennessee is just another collegiate women's program, too.

Would you rather she took the Nick Saban approach?

Say what you want about Waco and Baylor, but them Baptists over there have got some deep, deep pockets.

She was set for life at Tech, a school with a long history of successful women's basketball programs. Heck, Tech and Old Dominion practically created national interest in women's basketball.

Now, she's got Baylor's 2005 National Championship under her belt. Frankly, I can't see her moving to LSU. Anything LSU could offer money-wise, Baylor can certainly meet or beat.

I did omit one little thing about Kim Mulkey - she's from Hammond.

Hmmm...factor, maybe? Nah, I still don't think so.

Something smells really fishy about this whole thing. Something is definitely going down. LSU needs to put their finger in the dike before the rumors get out of control. The media is munching away at the the story. And you know it must be eating away at Pokey. No one is being straight with her.

Who will roll out the carpet for her? She might be a good fit for the Oregon State Beavers. It's definitely not with the South Carolina Gamecocks. No matter which way she swings she is out of there lickety split.
