I have a whole spreadsheet I did following our draft live against the real one.

As a group I think we did really well.

I felt comfortable with the Jets draft I did....
16 Michael Floyd 13 +3
41 Andre Branch 38 +3
77 Jared Crick 126 -49
154 Cyrus Gray 182 -28
202 Dustin Waldron Undrafted
203 Chris Greenwood 148 +55
242 Chase Ford Undrafted
244 Rishard Matthews 227 +17

My best value pick being Chris Greenwood from Albion

I also found it fun watching guys that were on my sleeper/late round board get picked like ....

David Paulson TE
Jack Crawford DE43
Jerron McMillian SS Maine
Najee Goode ILB
Johnnie Troutman OG
Rokevious Watkins OG
Lamar Holmes OT
Blair Walsh K

I did ok. I think this is the first year that Tampa out drafted me. Getting Barron, Martin, and David were great picks. I would have gone Luke in their shoes, but Barron could be a very good player fro them. I am not sure they did enough to address their OT or CB situation, but you can't argue with what they accomplished this offseason.

As far as my draft went...the real surprise to me was seeing how far James Brown dropped. I though he was a good looking prospect. Anyone know the story on that?

Found this on PFT:

Quote:
Mel Kiper ranked Brown as the No. 54 player in the draft and spent much of the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds calling him one of the best players still available. But NFL teams obviously disagreed, because even after 253 names were called, Brown remained undrafted. If Kiper is right, the Bears got the best undrafted free agent available: They announced that they signed Brown after the draft.
Brown started 38 games at left tackle for Troy, but many observers of his performance at the Senior Bowl and Scouting Combine came away thinking he lacks the quickness to deal with NFL pass rushers and translates better to guard at the next level. He’s a project, but he’s a project that the Bears have to feel good about getting without having to spend a draft pick on him.

I stunk this year.

Only thing I can say I contributed is that the official mock draft members and followers should have been 1 up on their peers when the Ravens drafted Gino Gradkowski in the 4th round.

I try to think like the Raven FO, impossible but I try.
At best I have 75% of the info they have, and in reality a lot less, then throw in the "smoke and mirrors" -the intentional deceptions, red-herrings, background priority shifts and, Mamba you may be right, just pick who you like and want and give up trying to match the team.

All that said, I did hit a Raven for the 3rd year.
First year I hit Sergio Kindle, not really bragging and they traded down and got him a bunch later....
Second year I took Jah Reid in the 5th, Ravens traded up in the 3rd
This year was C Gino Gradkowski my alternate 7th and UDFA signing because I knew he wasn't going to get picked by anyone here....
Heck C Michael Brewster went undrafted (Jags UDFA signing) and C David Molk went to the Chargers in the 7th

Well at least my 6th rounder was a UDFA signing by the Saints (Braylon Broughton)
Thanks all, enjoyed it

One player I'll be interested in in the Ravens camp (I love unusual long shots) is
Former Morgan State tight end Lamont Bryant 6' 5", 225 4.45 40 Not that that is super interest to y'all but he is 1 inch taller than Marques Colston and I can HOPE!!!

Thanks again

Good call with Broughton.

I loved the pick when you made it and had never even heard of him, which is odd because i scour the net looking for sleepers every year. His pro day slipped by relatively unnoticed during the final week of pre-draft workouts so it was easy to miss. I've been pulling for a DE/SLB here for a long time especially after we passed on brooks reed last year so i hope that Broughton excels there.

The bears have proven one thing: that they don't care how many times cutler gets hit or sacked. Their feeble attempts at addressing the o line especially the interior and LT is quite unimpressive. I didn't like the carimi pick last year and i don't like that they didnt upgrade Garza, webb and chris williams so i can safely say that cutler's problems will likely continue even with brandon marshall.

I liked the jeffery pick but i thought that streeter was faster and still think that Tuinei, even though undrafted, could possibly be just as good.

There is no comparing Mclellin to vinny curry by any stretch of the imagination.

mike adams will find a home in pittsburg protecting the blindside of BIg ben. He could be their starter for the next decade.

Robinson went in the fourth

Michael smith went in the seventh

Streeter went in the sixth

The funny thing is that i think that Lavasier tuinei might not only be as good or better than Jeffrey as a pro but also the saints fourth rounder Nick toon.

I agree on Tuineil. I'm surprised possession receivers like Gerell Robinson go undrafted, I was really high on him. There were quite a few UDFA's this year that I thought had NFL caliber potential. Goes to show, a good collegiate career does not guarantee you a roster spot on an NFL team.

Thanks Nofalcons10, appreciate your comments. I hope he makes the Saints and excels (sure would help my draft status look better LOL ) And my home board Ravens24x7 was screaming for us to take Streeter and a number of posters celebrating heavily when they did.

Rugger - apparently nothing documented but buried on page 4 of an article in the Chicago Tribune Ten thoughts on the Chicago Bears' draft - chicagotribune.com

Quote:
I called a scout I trust and asked him why the Bears and 31 other teams passed on Brown through seven rounds. He explained off-field issues that I won’t get into here because I can’t document it.
Raven FO says different/tough year.... usually they have 20-25 of their top 150 left at the end for UDFA invites, this year was 3 and all 3 had injury issues, their top got picked clean.
Feelings up here seems to be they had 4 players targeted at their pick and watched them grabbed, up here we are guessing DeCastro, Hightower, Reif, and maybe Chandler Jones/Zeitler? .... FO came out and said they saw them go and had to get "creative".

I'll take their creativity turning the 1st rounder into Upshaw and a 4th rounder (Gradkowski)

@AgentJRad, yep it is definitely a lot more fun than the real draft, because we are doing things. It is adding to our enjoyment of the real draft because we have become more knowledgeable... but that fun is tension/excitement. This fun was we got to play (next year Rugger will have to settle for a fourth LOL )

I had Toney Clemons and Tuinei with equal grades. ironically that's who the steelers drafted. I mentioned both in the 2012 draft thread.

I liked gerell robinson because he uses his size well and knows how to box out smaller defenders but he may never be able to become a crisp route runner or more than a #2-3 receiver unlike clemons and Tuinei who run better routes and adjust to the ball better in the air and in traffic. he's not very fast but hes faster and bigger than jeff fuller and even scored a TD on a shallow cross in the senior bowl. His stats were very good at arizona st. last year but he'll be catching passes from Peyton manning in denver now.

You guys lucked out with streeter. Great pick. He probably has more upside than any receiver in the draft and reminds me of ed mccafrey.

im just hoping that Broughton can contribute and possibly force martez wilson to weakside.

I didn't know he went to Denver, good for him. If so, he is ruinited with his old QB Brock Osweiler.....the more likely person to throw to him.

Yep.

The steelers also picked up the CB/free safety i wanted, Robert Golden as an udfa while Derrius brooks went to the bengals, and jeremy lane got drafted by the Hawks. I really wanted golden here, he reminds me of kyle wilson (jets).

----------------------------------------------------------------

The 5th round selection of a Fullback really just absolutely blows my mind. Was there even another FB taken at all in the draft? I thought the Falcons would be content with a new OL coach and a new OC. Apparently, I was wrong, and the Falcons went into overhaul mode at OL.

TE Orson Charles - My Pick: 55 Actual: 116 = -61
CB Brandon Boykin - My Pick: 86 Actual: 123 = -37
OT Donald Stephensen - My Pick: 159 Actual: 74 = +85

Man, I suck at drafting apparently. Maybe I should hang up my GM hat haha. I have just usually based my draft off of what I would do if I were GM. Maybe next year, I will change up my draft strategy. Thanks Rugger, Crosswatt, and anyone else that had their hand in running the behind the scenes activities. I've enjoyed myself for the 2nd year in a row, and without those behind the scenes, this wouldn't be possible. Also, a huge thanks to the other GM's here for pulling this draft together in such a short notice. Some really intelligent posters out there that really found bang for their buck in the draft. Fantastic job everyone, and I can't wait until next year

I nailed the Brandon Taylor pick, just took him a round later than AJ Smith did. It looks like my draft strategy almost mirrored that of the Chargers and for that I'm pleased. I almost took a running back in the 7th round but just didn't like who was left on my board at that point and took a tight end cause it was a need to me.

I've enjoyed myself for the 2nd year in a row, and without those behind the scenes, this wouldn't be possible. Also, a huge thanks to the other GM's here for pulling this draft together in such a short notice. Some really intelligent posters out there that really found bang for their buck in the draft. Fantastic job everyone, and I can't wait until next year
Your draft was fine. It expresses one of 32 different draft thougt processes. Remember all 32 of us passed on Lamar Holmes in favor of guys like Dustin Waldron.

We dont have the same scouting department they do so what can we expect. We make the same mistakes the Draft Sites do. And even by comparison to the real thing, most draftees wont stick.

As for FBs, I believe Rhett Ellison also got drafted and he is a TE/FB tweener.

Also some consider Evan Rodriguez and Brad Smelley possible FB tweener projections.
