Seattle selects:
Ronnell Lewis
OLB/DE, Oklahoma
Quote:
Pass rush: A very good athlete who plays fast and accelerates quickly upfield. Plays with fluid quickness and sharp footwork. Struggles to shed once engaged and plays with very predictable hand use. Doesn't flash many secondary pass rush moves and has unrefined mechanics as a pass rusher -- can't simply rely on his natural ability at the next level.
Run defense: Keeps his eyes up and quickly locates the ball with good patience and overall awareness. Needs to develop better pre-snap recognition skills and anticipation. Plays hard on every snap, doing a nice job not giving up on the play and making tackles downfield in pursuit. Limited against the run at the line of scrimmage with a suspect base and overall anchor.
Explosion: Not a quick-twitch or sudden player and lacks an explosive first step with an inconsistent get-off. Possesses smooth change of direction skills and can make plays in any direction. Doesn't always play with the competitive fire teams seek in a pass rusher.
Strength: Naturally strong and always looking to finish. Plays physical and violent with aggressive hand use. Doesn't have great growth potential and might be maxed out physically.
Tackling: Reliable tackler in small areas. Strong hands to secure tackles and knock the ball out of the ballcarrier's grasp. Tight-hipped and will miss tackles in space.
Intangibles: Has a lot of raw ability and overall upside for the next level. Had only 14 starts at the collegiate level with underwhelming production. Never led the Sooners in tackles, tackles for loss or sacks. Undersized to play with his hand on the ground and might be limited to specific schemes -- lacks a natural position and was used in various spots over his collegiate career. Has some maturity and character concerns, not leaving Oklahoma on great terms and struggling with academics throughout his career -- was suspended for the bowl game this past season due to poor grades and was told by the coaching staff that he was better off moving on and going pro.

I'm looking to add an additional third round pick for the Vikings.
If we are allowed to trade players, I am willing to part with Gerhart, Jenkins and a few others..

Can't do players in this one, sorry.
Off to work for me (stupid late day), I'll monitor as close as I can. If I come up, please send me a message to make sure I'm around, Cross.
Happy drafting, everyone else!

We're ready to make our selection but we'll be fielding trade offers for the next 30 minutes or so.

with the way things were going, i though that zack brown would last until the 3rd round. lol.
He's probably the steal of this round. Hands down one of the top 3-4 players at the senior bowl and a sure first round talent.

With the 43rd overall selection i the 2012 NFL Experts Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select...
Bobby Wagner, LB, Utah State
Quote:
Overview
A four-year starter, two-year captain and three-time All-WAC honoree, Wagner can be called short, but he's not small. He packs the power of a man much larger and uses that effectively to tackle anybody with the audacity to be in his vicinity with a football.
His senior year was his best, with 147 total tackles, including 67 solo, four sacks and two interceptions. His muscular build was impressive at the Senior Bowl weigh-ins and he was hyper-active during the week of practice. But Wagner wasn't allowed to really tackle until the game, when he put on a clinic as he led everybody with seven tackles, including one for a loss, and an interception. For that he was named Senior Bowl MVP.
Wagner was unable to take part in the Combine because he was hospitalized in Arizona with pneumonia.
Analysis
Read and react: Instinctive defender who is aggressive to slip through cracks and stop the running back in the hole. Good patience. Doesn't commit too soon showing the ability to break down in space, wait for the ball carrier to commit and closing quickly for the reliable stop.
Run defense: Good balance and strong, long arms for the pull-down tackle while engaged in a block. Shows good patience and then closes quickly in the hole. Looks to slip blocks with quick hands rather than forcefully taking them on and shedding with violence.
Pass defense: Cognizant in coverage. Showed better-than-expected fluidity and instincts in coverage during the Senior Bowl practices. A bit heavy-footed and was occasionally beaten to the flanks or down the sideline, leaving questions about whether he has the speed to play outside in the NFL.
Tackling: Wraps his arms on most tackles to bring ball carriers to a quick stop. Good lateral and downfield pursuit.
Pass Rush/Blitz: Experienced pass rusher with enough burst to slip by offensive tackles and enough power to blow through running backs left in pass protection. Shows good effort but only a moderate feel for rushing the passer. Allowed to loop around to find favorable matchups, on occasion, but relies too much on speed and bull rushes rather than using any real technique.
Intangibles: Possesses a thick build with impressive overall musculature. Intelligent and dedicated. Capable of contributing early in his career. Voted a team captain in 2010-11.
|
We couldn't be happier to have drafted this young man. Frankly, we were sold during Senior Bowl week, when his energy during practice carried over into the game, of which he was voted Defensive MVP for his tenacious performance. That performance simply mirrored his production during the course of his college career, when he ranked as one of the top 10 tacklers in all of the FBS his junior and senior years.
Bobby fills a need and has the talent, intelligence, and work ethic to come in and make an immediate impact.
Welcome to the Kansas City Chiefs, Bobby! First rack of ribs is on Coach Crennel. (The rest are on Glenn Dorsey--he knows why.)

With the 45th overall pick of the draft, the Cowboys are proud to select with their 2nd round pick: Peter Konz, OC, Wisconsin
Image Hosting
Quote:
| Overview | A three-year starter, Peter Konz (kahnz) was a three-star offensive line recruit out of high school and was considered the state of Wisconsin's top prep player, choosing the Badgers over Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota. After redshirting in 2008, he took over as the starting center for the injured Travis Frederick as a redshirt freshman early in the 2009 season, starting nine games at the pivot spot. Konz became the full-time starter at center in 2010 as a sophomore and started 11 games, but missed two games due to injury, earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors. He started the first 10 games of 2011 as a junior before an ankle injury sidelined him for the final three contests, earning First Team All-Big Ten honors.
Konz is a very good station-to-station blocker and effective puller. He isn't naturally explosive, but shows the quick feet and mobility to block well on the move. He is aggressive and tough-minded, but has some durability concerns after missing time each of the past three seasons with several injuries.
Konz has an excellent combination of size, strength and quickness and possesses the skill-set to also line up at guard if needed (despite only playing center in college). He blocks with very good balance and raw power and is the top center in this draft class, projecting as a solid top-30 pick.
| | Analysis | Pass blocking: Possesses a solidly-built frame with a filled-out body and solid muscle definition. Naturally wide base off the snap. Does a nice job sinking his hips and playing with consistent pad level, sitting in his stance with steady balance. Shoots his hands into defenders with very good placement, flashing strong hands to sustain blocks for an extended period of time. Taller for the center position and will allow his upper body to get high at times. Understands blocking angles.
Run blocking: A physical run blocker with raw power and strength at the point of attack. Gets very good initial push off the snap. Does a nice job with body positioning, walling off defenders to seal run lanes. Not a quick-twitch mover and looks a tad uncoordinated in tight spaces.
Pulling/trapping: Athletic and mobile, blocking well in space and pulling towards either sideline. Shows natural instincts with a very good feel for the position, keeping his eyes elevated and always looking for someone to block.
Initial Quickness: Sets up quickly and gets into his stance in a flash. Stout and aggressive at the point of attack and is tough to move because he plays with such good leverage -- sticky blocker. Konz is a bit stiff in his core and struggles to quickly redirect. Not naturally explosive.
Downfield: Rangy blocker with the foot quickness to cover a lot of ground and easily get to the second level. Takes on defenders with toughness and aggression, looking to finish and dominate.
Intangibles: Intelligent with strong football character, working hard on and off the field. Has good starting experience with 30 career starts at center over the past three seasons. Offers some versatility with the skill-set to line up at other offensive line spots. Has strong durability concerns, missing time each of the past three seasons with various injuries -- missed three games towards the end of 2011, including the Big Ten Championship Game, with a left ankle injury.

Peter Konz, Wisconsin, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com
Peter Konz was a solid player at Wisconsin. He wasn't the only stand out in this line either. The Cowboys O-line is decent. With last year's 1st round pick T. Smith holdin up the LT spot and Doug Free on the other, that position is set. The Guard position may be lacking as much as the Center position is, but Jerry Jones brought in some depth at Guard and signed a couple of bodies this offseason. Phil Costa @ Center has proven to be a disaster as well so we love this pick. With the emergence of Demarco Murray, a beefed up line may be just what Dr. Jerry Jones will order. But of course, this will allow Romo to hopefully have more time back in the pocket. Konz is very adept at reading the defense and is very good at spotting the blitz. With some people sayin he still has 1st round stock (Which is unnatural for the Center position), its good to snag him here

Seriously, though I wont turn down the help as from the 3rd round out it traditionally starts to get really subjective in our mock.
