Internet is flaky, to keep thinks rolling I'm just gonna post my pick, can't even grab a frackin picture of Brandon Hardin, but since he has been looked at and voted on in the Saints Poll (losing) I'm assuming most are familiar with him....

for the Ravens now replacing Zbikowski/Nakamura instead of Jarret Johnson/

Ravens select FS Brandon Hardin with pick 166

Edit to correct spelling, not gotta set up pick 171

With the 167th pick in the 2012 "Official" Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select Chris Rainey, RB, Florida.

With this pick, the 49ers add another weapon on offense, and a change of pace from workhorse Frank Gore. Rainey should help the QB on third down as a check down and can provide explosiveness that this offense needs.

Quote:
Strengths: Perhaps the most explosive cutting ability and straight-line speed of any athlete in the 2012 draft. Can make defenders look silly due to his lateral agility and sudden acceleration. Versatile. Saw time as a running back, receiver, punt returner and kick returner for the Gators. Looks natural catching the ball out of the backfield and has shown the ability to track the ball over his shoulder and snatch passes outside of his frame. Has struggled a bit with durability over his career but is willing to play with pain. Relishes his opportunities on special teams but is not just a return specialist. Explosive burst led to his breaking the school and SEC record with six blocked punts.

Weaknesses: A bit of a luxury prospect for the next level. Certainly is a versatile, playmaking athlete but provides next to nothing as a blocker which means he'll be an obvious focus of the defense whenever he's on the field. Caught most of his passes on simple dump-offs and quick screens. Struggled tracking the ball over his shoulder as well as adjusting to poorly thrown passes over his career. Has had continued issues with his shoulders dating back to high school which will require a close look by team doctors at the Combine. Character red-flag … Was charged with aggravated stalking (a felony) after sending a threatening text message to a former girlfriend in 2010. The charges were dropped as part of a pre-trial agreement in which he had to complete an intervention program …
Chris Rainey, Florida, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

2012 49ers Draft:

30) Amini Silatolu, G, Midwestern State

61) Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson

75) Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana

127) Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State

167) Chris Rainey, RB, Florida

I'm on my cell phone so forgive me! I can't check to see if theyve been picked. Here are my picks for 168 & 169. Write up later! Thanks!

#1 Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma
#2 B.J. Coleman, QB, UT-Chattanooga

The Bengals select with pick #168, Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma

Quote:
.....

Read & React: Combines very good instincts with above-average reaction skills. Almost always finds the ball in traffic. Greet feel in coverage, sees quarterback and receiver, jumps routes to prevent completion, or at least stop yards after the catch. One-man wrecking crew against screens because he sniffs them out and has the quickness to grab the receiver.

Run defense: Tougher between the tackles than many expect. Gap-shooter that grabs backs before they get through the line, also willing to throw his body into the hole to create piles and stands up to blocks to stay in the play. Feels pulling lineman coming, capable of punching to stay clean or take the outside shoulder to keep runners from bouncing to the sideline. Lacks strength to blow up fullbacks and bulk/length to prevent getting engulfed by better lineman at the second level.

Pass defense: Fluid and quick drop into zone, covers enough ground to be Tampa-Two mike and knows where the markers are. Often arrives at the receiver at the same time as the ball, gives up few yards after the catch. Possesses straight-line speed stay with or chase down receivers in man. Creates turnovers with quick reaction time to bring in tipped balls, closes on balls over the middle or baits quarterbacks intro throwing his directions if they do not seeing his deep drop. Loses size battle to many tight ends, easily pushed away on out routes. Caught looking into backfield occasionally instead of getting to receiver in the flat. Tries to cradle throws at times instead of snatching them, resulting in dropped interceptions.

Tackling: As secure and reliable a tackler as you'll see in college football. Not necessarily explosive, but more physical than a chase-and-drag linebacker. Breaks down well in space, corrals elusive ballcarriers on the edge or inside by wrapping torso and holding on. Gets leverage inside to stop piles from moving forward. Leaves his feet at times, NFL backs will take advantage.

Pass Rush/Blitz: Works more in space than attacking the backfield, but flashes closing speed and agility to reach passers from the blind side or up the middle before they can escape. Knocks down some quarterbacks with just a glancing blow. Takes advantage of large holes to get to the quarterback, but must work on using violent hands to rip off lineman and defeat cut blocks from running backs. Also needs to build a variety of pass rush moves.

Intangibles: Team captain who leads the team on and off the field with words and by example. Four-year starter for one of the top programs in the country. No known character or off-field issues.--Chad Reuter

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/p...5/travis-lewis

& we take with pick #169, B.J. Coleman, QB, UT-Chattanooga

Quote:
.....

Strengths: Physically imposing and solidly-built throughout his frame with good body strength. Has a strong arm with the ability to easily make all the throws. Has above average zip and velocity on his passes with strong stick throws. Possesses a smooth, quick release with good mechanics that translate well to the next level. Has good mobility to move around in the pocket with the foot quickness to evade pressure and pick up yards with his legs when needed (7 career rush scores). Has strong character on and off the field with natural leadership traits and is known as the consummate teammate. Very coachable and is a quick learner, working hard to improve and hone his craft. A film junkie with a passion for the game and wants to win.
Weaknesses: Almost too thick and appears a bit mechanical in some of his movements, including his throwing motion. Has inconsistent footwork in his drops and passing stance. Displays inconsistent touch on throws to all levels of the field and needs to show a better grasp of when to throw fastballs and when to put some air underneath throws. Shows improved accuracy, but his ball location is still streaky and needs improvement. Played at the FCS-level with average results (52-to-31, career TD-to-INT ratio and only 57.4% career completions) and lacks ideal experience against top competition. Had a tough senior season with only 9 touchdowns in 7 starts and missed four of the final five games with an injury to his throwing shoulder.

I wondered when someone would pick b.j. coleman.

He's my #3 qb in the draft, slightly ahead of Tannehill. If the bears hadn't already signed jason cambell as a backup to cutler, i would've taken him by now. he would've been my selection in the 6th anyway. That kid has some real talent.

Cinncinati just drafted a qb controversy in a year or two.

First some Ravens Trivia
Quote:
the Ravens have only selected a player in the teens (picks 13-19) twice in team history. Both times it was used on a quarterback. They have never used a first round pick on a quarterback other than these two times, on Flacco and Boller. -Steve Hasler
Ravens are ready iffen Oakland leaves my pick (unlike waazup did to me a couple of picks ago). If not we will have fast info on his pick and a delay on mine

The Raiders Select CB Mike Harris, FSU

Just taking the top player on our board. He can compete with all the veteran riff-raff we brought in via free agency.

When asked about a mid-round sleeper via Twitter, Peter King responded that he didn't know if Hall was a sleeper but thought he could be had late third or early fourth. So late fith is great value for this kid, so says Peter King.

Overview

Harris started at corner for only one year for Florida State after being a part of the Seminoles' nickel packages. He is a transfer from El Camino Community College and has great speed to excel at the position at the next level. He has a ton of experience covering in the slot and should contribute early there at the next level.

Strengths

Harris is good in man coverage, as he has the hips and awareness to stay tight in his man's hip and run with him the whole way. He has played in the slot against athletic receivers a lot and held his own. He is a good tackler and reliable to bring his guy down and support when blitzing off the edge out of nickel packages. He is a natural athlete who won't have problems playing nickel right away.

Weaknesses

Harris has good speed but can get lost at times when running with receivers and reacts to a thrown ball slightly late. He is smooth when running with his man and, at times, can run past receivers when they breaks off their routes

With pick 171 Ravens select Malik Jackson

Quote:
Name: Malik Jackson (Transfer from USC)
College: Tennessee Number: 97
Height: 6-5 Weight: 284
Position: DE Pos2: DT
Class/Draft Year: Sr/2012
40 Time: 4.91 40 Low: 4.78 40 High: 5.04
Projected Round: 3-4 Stock:
Rated number 11 out of 133 DE's
03/17/12 - Tennessee Pro Day: The Peyton Manning Watch had taken over much of
the state of Tennessee this week but it was 10 "other" former Volunteers who drew
21 scouts to the UT campus Friday for the team's Pro Day. Combine-invitees Malik
Jackson (DL) and Tauren Poole (RB) generated most of the attention. Jackon, who
earned First Team All-SEC honors last year as a 267 pound defensive tackle, weighed
in even heavier Friday than he had at the Combine. The 6-5 Jackson weighed in at
284 pounds in Indianapolis a few weeks ago but added six pounds since. Despite the
added bulk, according to a source at the workout, Jackson showed good athleticism
in defensive line drills run by a member of the New Orleans Saints. Jackson showed
fair strength at the Combine by posting 25 repetitions of 225 pounds. Jackson
transferred to Tennessee after originally signing with Southern California out of high
school. He played closer to 250 pounds while with the Trojans and had to bulk up just
to see playing time at defensive end. The fact that he's steadily improved while
adding weight and appears to have the frame even more mass is sure to intrigue
scouts. Some believe that because of his height and relatively long arms (33 3/4")
he's a natural candidate as a developmental 3-4 defensive end. Poole also had a
strong positional workout, demonstrating natural cutting ability and soft hands out of
the backfield -- two areas in which scouts had some concerns. - Rob Rang,

Really? Who is BJ Coleman? I never even heard of him before. Props to you if you have him rated as your 3rd best QB in the draft....you must have quite the war room.

you bet i do.

I've had my eye on him as a potential backup here for the past couple of months ever since seeing him in the shrine game. He's actually one of my favorite prospects. Had he stayed at Tennessee, you would all know his name too. His potential is really high and he delivers his throws with velocity, touch and accuracy as well as a quick release. His play fakes are beautiful and he has a really, really, good arm. If i really needed a qb, i'd take him in the mid-late second early third.

Wow, that's good information. After Weeden and Cousins were gone I researched Brock Osweiler, Russell Wilson, Ryan Lindley and Nick Foles. Ironically, BJ Coleman was listed right before Foles in my player rankings but I had never heard of him....so I glossed over him in the interest of getting my draft strategy PM'd to crosswatt because I was going to be out yesterday. I didn't research him and then I see this post. From write ups and youtube I thought Osweiler was the best of those, Foles was close but he forces too many balls and can be prone to turnovers. I wish I had dug a little further.

Edit: Just watched the video. He has great footwork and there doesn't appear to be a throw he can't make. He could have allowed me to go a different way in the draft. Solid pick there.....good stuff.

All i know is that the saints were at his pro day and i remember what type of player aaron rodgers was coming out of cal. He doesn't look to escape like rodgers but if we ever needed to draft a successor to brees outside of the first round, i'd be more comfortable drafting coleman than any non-first round qb of the past 8 years or so.

Even if brees ends up playing here until he's forty i bet we could trade coleman for a 1st rounder in a year or two once he develops.

i started a thread about him a while back. Qb isn't a major need but i'd like to see what SP can do with him in this offense.
Intriguing Qb prospect---B.J. Coleman, Tennessee chatanooga

He looks exactly like the kind of QB that would fit in with the Saint's offense. If he can throw a deep ball I'd be all for drafting him. I will be curious to see who takes him in the draft and where he falls. Everything you say I agree with. I went back and looked at your thread...it's a shame no one was willing to discuss your prospect.

longtime lurker.....solid back to back picks. I had Travis Lewis on my board. I've seen him play quite a bit living here in North Dallas.
