Buffalo is on the clock. We made some great time yesterday; let’s see if we can continue that momentum into today...

I'll text him at work to let him know he's on the clock. He's got his computer with him today, so he should be able to make his pick between classes.

(Sorry, quickie write-up due to work schedule!)
With the 173rd pick in the 2012 NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills select:
Joe Looney, OG - Wake Forest
Height 6'3¼"
Weight 309 lbs
Arm Length 32.2"
Hand Size 9.6"
Looney is a leader and was named a captain as a senior. He is well respected and liked by teammates and coaches. Hard worker and possesses a high football I.Q. Overall instincts are solid. Displays more awareness in pass protection than as a run blocker at this point. Quickly recognizes and reacts to twist and stunts along the defensive line. Also does a nice job of locating pressures from the second and third level. Consistently identifies and locates targets at the second level when climbing or pulling down the line scrimmage. Plays hard and takes pride in his craft. Will finish when given the opportunity. Flashes a mean streak but needs to show it with more consistency.
Displays a quick first step and above-average lateral agility to get into strong initial position. Possesses a strong inline power base and can get adequate movement on defenders when locked in a phone booth. Ankles are a bit stiff which can affect his balance and cause him to fall off blocks on occasion. Possesses excellent second level and in space capabilities. Takes proper angles and does a nice job of cutting off linebackers. Also moves well in space and displays ability to adjust on the move to cover up targets.
Possesses a wide frame and nimble feet. Gets into sets quickly and can slide and mirror to stay in front of rushers. Flashes a powerful initial punch and has strong hands to latch on and control rushers once getting into position. Shows ability to sink hips and anchor against bull rush attempts. Only time he gets into trouble is when he lunges and eyes go to the ground which makes him susceptible against quicker rushers. However, these flaws are all correctable with proper coaching.

Philadelphia Eagles select............
Jarius Wright - Arkansas (HT: 5-9⅝ - WT: 182)
Quote:
Positives -- Had a breakout senior season where he set career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns... Solid route runner who displays good quickness in and out of his cuts, a terrific slot receiver who runs crisp routes in the middle of the field and plucks the ball on the run... Good boundary
receiver who plays the sidelines well... Blinding speed, very tough to contain, routinely beats the safety deep... Good overall athlete, ran a 4.42-40 and had a 38" vertical at the combine... Gets good separation in man coverage... Good recognition of coverages, is able to find the soft spot in the zone... Good runner after the catch, short legs with quick feet, very explosive in the open field... A game changer who can break the big play at any time... Dependable player who has a knack for finding the first down marker... Great character... Has added value as a punt returner... Had a big Shrine week.
Negatives -- Short and light, very undersized, will struggle when faced with larger corners... Will take his eyes off the football and look up field before securing the catch... Struggled in Arkansas' two marquee games of the season against Alabama and LSU, tallying a combined six catches for 53 yards... Has a hard time dealing with press coverage, too easily gets bumped off his route... Upside is limited by his lack of size, has all the speed in the world, but is likely nothing more than a slot candidate at the next level.

We feel this good value here in the 6th round for Jarius Wright. A raw, yet talented prospect who we feel can add depth to an already talented wide reciever corps, plus provide some special teams value.

Ballard is a tough, hard-nosed, north/south runner, who will bring another element to our RB corps. He performed well vs SEC competition, and has the frame to add more muscle and size without sacrificing speed.

I saw some great games last year with Vick Ballard. He is tough and you can just feed him the ball over and over. Rated as high as a 4th round prospect on some boards, this is great value here. Good pick up.

Thanks! I'm very happy with the Redskins draft so far... I think I've gotten good value, and hit need areas. 1 round left.

Love jarius wright.
he's a smooth route-runner and he could go as high as the 3rd potentially. He might be the best slot wideout in the draft, and his deep ball skills are phenomenal.
