9 Brand - Apparel Company Founded By Drew & Brittany Brees Will Donate To Isaac Victims

NINE Brand

Nine Brand (9brand) on Twitter

https://www.facebook.com/9brand

ALL IN WITH THE 9 BRAND
The inaugural product line, the "ALL IN" tee, was forged from this tumultuous off-season and inspired by the approach the community has always taken in the face of adversity. It is the mindset that, no matter what the circumstances or situation, we are all in this together as a community, region and team. Drew wrote the message below to show that there is nothing we cannot overcome together:

"Challenges and adversity confront us everyday,
They motivate and inspire us to always find a way.
Sometimes it is the hand we're dealt or just the circumstance,
But together we can rest assured we always stand a chance.
Our attitude and courage are as strong as they have been,
And once again we will rise up to proclaim that we're ALL IN."

"We thrive in the resilience of a community where people rise up in the face of adversity to overcome, achieve, and conquer. We never settle. We are Nine, a lifestyle apparel company headquartered in New Orleans."

"9% of net proceeds from all Nine Brand products will be donated to the Brees Dream Foundation to support organizations focused on resilience. Proceeds from the first product line, the "ALL IN" tee, will be donated to organizations focused on Hurricane Isaac recovery in the Gulf Coast region. Please visit Drew Brees - The Brees Dream Foundation to learn more about how the Brees Dream Foundation is making a difference."

Not to rain on any parades here, but this brand wasn't founded to help Isaac folks. It was founded to 91% benefit Drew and Brittany and 9% to benefit Drew's foundation. Only the proceeds from the first t-shirt (9% or full 100% is unclear) go to organizations focuses on Isaac recovery.

Correct, Drew and them have been working on this brand for a while now.

Hey Drew's an entrepreneur.

Of course he's making money but at least he's giving some of it back.

And that's just on the first T-shirt.

He still has the Brees Dream Foundation that is helping causes like this and others.

How many other quarterbacks do stuff like this?

Probably some but I wouldn't know about it.

no doubt. thats my point.

further, 91% of the sale doesnt go to Drew And Brittany...It pays for the material, the cost of printing, etc.

very misleading.

Drew has more money now than he, his wife, or his kids could ever spend.

I seriously doubt he will ever stop helping the citizens of New Orleans and Louisiana in general.

Drew feels he owes the Saints for life for giving him another chance when no one would.

He's not ever going to forget that.

Not misleading at all. The numbers in the article discuss net proceeds, not gross proceeds. So yes, 91% of net proceeds go to Drew and Brittany, 9% of net proceeds go to his foundation. The numbers for gross proceeds is different, but my math was right.

I never said that Drew was a bad guy for doing this, but people shouldn't be thinking that Drew started this business for Isaac folks as the title claims. Nor should people be lining up to buy a t-shirt because they think all that money is going to help people impacted by Isaac. It is likely the 9% of profits will go to organizations which help people impacted by Isaac. Which in a very trim non-profit would probably mean that about 6.5% of profits from the t-shirt will trickle down to people impacted by Isaac.

Great cause, but the shirts are very "meh."

And remind me again of any other "public figure" who is doing the same?

the 91% you quoted in your OP was misleading. Sure, its 91% of NET just as the 9% is of NET. Not many will immediately make that distinction. Rather they will assume if the shirt is $20 that 91% of that is going to Drew. Which is not the case. That was my point.

If anything, its clear that only a portion of the proceeds will go to Isaac victims. But to make it as though 91% of SALE is misleading.

Thank you for clarifying "net" as you left that out of your OP.

Saint Sarah, What percentage of the money you make do you donate to any cause? Is it anywhere near 9% or even 6.5%? No one is OBLIGATED to donate money to any cause; it's just very nice when people choose to do so. Yes, Drew has a lot of money and he has very generously chosen to donate some of it to various causes and organizations. Again, he's not obligated to do that. Why would you even feel that it was necessary to point out that he is keeping 91% of proceeds for himself? He owns the company. Unless you have made a donation yourself anywhere near 6.5% of what you are worth, then your negative comment just sounds mean spirited. Additionally, we do not know that Drew hasn't donated more money than just the proceeds from this shirt. We should all just say thank you, Drew. Thanks for caring about the people in your community.

unless the title changed, you have a reading comprehension problem.

"Apparel Company Founded By Drew & Brittany Brees Will Donate To Isaac Victims"

That says nothing about him starting the business for Isaac folks.

I changed the title a little.

It never said that this company was founded "solely" for the purpose of helping Isaac victims.

That's just how one person chose to view it.

I wonder how much they donated...
