Anyone have footage of 1997 preseason games?
since rickey jackson is one of my all time favorite players, i have been trying to find some preseason games from his "comeback". he became an assistant on ditka's staff after ditka and he talked. he didn't want to cut him and let him step down gracefully and accepted the defensive assistant position. i thought that was classy of ditka.
i remember one game, at end of the 3rd quarter rickey came in. NEW saints uniforms, but he had on the old helmet facemask. was so cool to see him in new saints gear and back on saints!
i didn't see any other preseason games that year, but think he played in 3 preseason contests. although not abounding with any highlights, still cool to see rickey jackson on field again.
anyone have preseason games or pics of rickey from preseason or minicamp?

From the following link:
Rickey Jackson to Canton, Part Three: Making them black & blue in Black & Gold
In 1997, Rickey felt the itch after a year out of football. With Mora gone after resigning in the middle of the 1996 season, he asked new Saints coach Mike Ditka if he could try to play again.
Ditka agreed to allow Jackson to do so at training camp in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
I covered that training camp. Jackson still looked menacing but he looked a step slow. He seemed strangely out of place, even wearing the familiar black #57 jersey. Both sides realized it. After just over a week of camp, Rickey announced his retirement again.
You're saying he played in 3 preseason games...this person says he retired after "just over a week" of training camp.....I dont remember ANYTHING about the 1997 preseason so I have no idea what to believe.

he definitely played in a preseason game. I watched it and taped it on VHS. could only grab about 4 plays where saw him and announcers were already talking random b.s. and not calling game since end of a preseason. they did mention Rickey entering game and said wanted to play for Ditka if played again. I want to say was against colts, but can't remember.

The Ditka era seemed to be a black hole on many fronts, especially any decent media.
