Can Ruud play OLB?
Excuse my ignorance but I thought he was strictly a MLB. Any chance we can move him to either OLB position?
Would a more educated person please let me know.
Did not see this posted anywhere in my search.

We don't even know if he can wear black and gold yet. He may end up being clipboard backer.

That would push Shanle pack to strong wide
I actually think Shanle is better suited for weak.

He is as tall as Shanle and only couple pounds lighter, runs a 4.62 forty. I watched last Seattle game and he was in for a few plays. He rushed the backfield and got a TFL or sack, another play he covered a back on a hot crossing route and stayed on him the whole time, QB passed to someone else.

I don't see how he could play any worse than Shanle. Being in position and not making the play is just as bad as not being in position to make the play.

This team doesn't have good luck with journeymen LB'ers.

yeah, dont' think we can count on anything great coming out of this signing, as good as he was at Tampa. Just hope he can play some downs at this point and anything in addition would be lagniappe.

It might seem ex post facto to criticize this way, but I felt this way when we let him sign with the Rams... letting Jo Lon Dunbar get away was a mistake.
And speaking of mistakes... you go into the first game on new turf in the dome but it never strikes you as necessary to practice on it at least once?
That dome turf has always seemed to hurt us

I heard Vitt admit that he felt not practicing on the field had an effect on us in the game. Not sure if he meant due to injuries or slipping/missed tackles.
I’m not sure if practicing on the field would have resulted in fewer injuries for us in that game. Two teams played on the field but only one has reported numerous injuries as result of playing on the same field. I searched rotoworld and the Jags message board to see if they were complaining about the field conditions/injuries but found nothing.

I thought he meant the missed tackles... was making an assumption on the injuries... but your point is well taken... freak injuries are like that... still wish we would have held on to Jo Lon... he did an excellent job while Vilma was out last season... there are only so many cookies in the jar-- I know-- but I felt that our FO undervalued him.

I think the exact quote also mentioned that guys' cleats were getting stuck. That would be an injury concern. I hope they break in the turf a little more this week.

Dude...Why are so many of us hating on Ruud? Other than the "one play", why does this man get almost no love? I personally think its a great move. The man has been a starter, has played better than good at times, and as much as some people try to disregard his stats, you dont collect 100 plus tackles a year for 4years straight, on accident.
I think he can play all LB positions, and may ultimately become a starter for us. Either way, the dudes a Saint now. By the way, remember who our GM is and what we already know about him and our FO. For my part, I'm on board and wish Barrett Ruud all the best.
