Drew Brees earned $16 million last year... in ENDORSEMENTS
Quote:

Brees made $16 million last year thanks to endorsement deals with Nike, Verizon, Vicks and Advocare.

Just to put that number in perspective, that is more than the amount that the Saints and Brees are apart over the length of a 5 year contract.

I love Drew as much as the next guy, but all these pay drew brees infinite salary guys and if you dont agree you are not a real saints fans are ignorant. We have a salary cap and just as much as Drew needs security for his future. The saints deserve just as much financial security for the TEAMS future.

I think we can all agree that Brees and his family aren't going to be going hungry anytime soon

The man has made close to 80 million in salary alone, another 20 for endorsements and book deals....he is set for life.
This all about getting paid what he thinks he deserves, ego and a healthy dose
of competitiveness. The deal will get done and i suspect neither side
will be happy.

It is less about money and more about ego. He has outperformed every QB over the last 6 years but he is never regarded as the top QB. It is purely a respect thing.

Probably very much about setting a position for future deals.

Wow. What a greed head! Cut him now, pull the franchise tag, lets tank, and pick #1 overall next year and hope we pick a winner!!

Maybe he's trying to make enough money to use for his campaign when he runs for mayor of New Orleans?

So if he was a forum poster he'd be one of those guys that posts a weekly 'No respekt' thread?

Well, he won't make that kind of endorsement money by not signing a contract and sitting out a year. Where's the logic of not playing because of 2 million dollars which is more than most of us will make in a life time?

I dont get it. What's the problem
Drew wants money. He feels he should be the highest paid QB in the league (total contract and up front guaranteed money) in his opinion.
What's the beef?
You dont agree? Tom Brady didn't want the same? etc?
It doesn't matter. Tom Brady is not available, their franchise made sure they kept their franchise QB.
We will do the same.
Brees is greed, condon is greed, the worlds going to end, money is the devil, blah blah blah.
This is a business, it will get resolved by businessmen at the end of the day, not emotional fans.

I doubt he would even have to spend money for that. Most will probably vote for him just because they see his name on the ballot
