Maybe Drew and the Saints are really close to a deal for him to say that. It is probably just positive thinking on my part.

Pretty big statement, since the last thing he's said publicly was he wouldn't play under the franchise tag. Seems obviously there will be personal pressure on Brees to get the deal in place before the 16th.

Well that just about zaps away the tiny percentage of me that was scared a deal wouldnt get done. In my mind, its pretty much done, Drew knows he is going to sign it, he is just waiting until he HAS to sign it. The deal Loomis gave them a few weeks ago Im sure is close enough to what he was asking.
Cant wait for football baby!!

I'm guessing he doesn't need that leverage anymore, which can only mean that he's really confident that the long-term deal is about to get done.
Sounds like good news to me. I'll take it.

Personally I don't think it's a money issue.
Me thinks Drew is working on the length of the contract term.
I.E. Drew wants to be a Saint forever.

No what he actually said was the last time I played under the TAG it didn't work out to well for me.

All of Drew's public statements mean only one thing to me: This deal is practically done. I really don't think he takes the threat of sitting out off the table if they were at a stalemate.
