Good Time To Buy Opening Game Tickets?
Greetings fellow Saints fans!!
A few of you were kind enough to help me out with ideas/suggestions for our 8 year old son's first game. Thanks!! Our flight is purchased from LAX. We arrive in N.O. Saturday around 3pm and will leave Sunday around 7:30pm. I have a room reserved at the Hyatt Regency. A car too, but I may cancel that and just take a cab. I am now ready to get 2 game day tickets.
The Saints office suggested sections 132 - 139 to give him a chance to have his football autographed. I am thinking of getting tickets in one of those sections, but am having a hard time finding low seats. I figure just getting in the section would be a good idea.
It was mentioned to me to wait until season ticket holders can sell their tickets. Has that time happened yet? The Saints ticket office said they could sell them anytime - I guess they just have to receive them first.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Geaux Saints,
Wayne

Yes, everyone has the ability to post tickets for sale. The cheapest prices you'll get are at the Benz box office 3 or 4 hours before kickoff. If you want to play it safe, the second-cheapest is right now. Like literally, since you started reading this, prices probably went up.
Buy them as soon as you have the money. Do it.
EDIT: And no, season ticket holders don't have to receive tickets to sell on www.ticketexchangebyticketmaster.com, because when you buy there, their ticket is cancelled and you receive a new one with a new bar code via email. That's also the safest way to buy, 100% guaranteed.

i agree with Sarcastic re. now being the cheapest time to buy.. i was looking at NFL Ticket Exchange and StubHub earlier today and i was really surprised at how (relatively) inexpensive tickets are, esp. since i figured Brees' signing would have caused a sharp increase.. If i were you i'd lock some tickets down ASAP.
oh, and whatever you do, don't bother renting a car if you're only gonna be there a little over 24 hrs.. Take a cab from the airport to the Hyatt, and it probably won't be much more expensive than they would charge you to park at the hotel-- plus you'll save yourself a lot of hassle, everything is within an easy walk.

I found the market gets a little bigger once season holders have their tickets in-hand, which can sometimes lead to lower prices. Just do it in the offseason, which I realize you have to for the first game, but just as a general rule. I remember in '09 we bought Cowboys/Saints tickets, they went for about 350 for the 120s. The week of the game, the same area was up to ~$1500.

Okay. I jumped on them.
Bought 2 in section 139, last row 35, seats 13 and 14. Cost a bit more than I wanted, but it seems this whole trip is costing more than I wanted. Tickets were not marked up too bad. $190 season ticket for $247 ($286.52 each after fees).
This gets us in the Plaza section with a chance to have his ball signed (hopefully).
I think I will cancel the car and take a taxi. We will have a blast hanging out at the dome and Hyatt.

Welcome to NOLA, you guys are gonna have a great time. Swing by the tailgating before you head to the Dome. The Hyatt is a great hotel, but I gotta say that they charge a crazy amount to park you car. So get a rental. Or park it a block or 2 away for free (after 6 on Saturdays and all day Sunday).

Taxi is the best option. A ride to or from airport will cost you $33.00. Taking a cab in the city for most destinations will be $10th or less. Good luck.

Will do. First year sitting in these seats, but I've been in the area many times. Should be pretty good.
