Henderson to Fox 8

Supposed to be official tomorrow...maybe monday. But Jim Henderson will say good bye to wwl and sign on with fox 8.

Can't say I am surprised.

Wow. That's quite a move for Benson. Will he still call the games for wwl?

Don't know details, but I am fairly sure this is a power play by Benson to keep him on as play by play.

We can only dream that he will call the games for tv on the local affiliate, but I will stick with unlikely on that.

That right goes to the network itself, in this case, fox. It will be their team.

Wow! I heard a while ago that Benson was trying to buy a radio station, I wonder if this plays into that?

Was there a possibility of him losing the gig of calling Saints games?

My understanding is that he retired from WWL-TV and he does the radio broadcasts for WWL radio, two completely separate entities. Is that correct?

he had retired from WWL-TV, not WWL radio. he may end up like Chris Rose doing his Commentary or something, but I doubt he'd go full time sports anchor.

I know you guys love him but I personally won't miss him if he doesn't call the game. A lot of times I listen to the games when I'm in the woods.....him and Hokie drive me crazy. Not very often that I know down/distance and things like that. Hopefully he takes Hokie with him.

I don't know how that would work. TV with fox, then radio with wwl? Seems like a conflict of interest to me.

Reduno is an unknown quantity at this point
No disrespect but I just don't see this happening as discussed. He may do some side jobs, a la carte type but he retired to fish and spend time with the family. WHY would he want to do this now? He already is assured of calling the games on radio.

I just don't see it. Maybe I'll be proven wrong.

That's my understanding as well. WWL radio and WWL-TV originally were owned by Loyola University. At some point, LU put the TV station up for sale and the WWL-TV employees formed a company that bought the station. They are two separate entities even though, to this day, there is some overlapping between the two.

This still seems weird though.
