I'm not sure what has happened to SSF, but it certainly has changed. Reading this thread, I feel like I've lost an old and cherished friend.
Someone described it best ... a bunch of bullies. Wondering why anyone would post anything after the treatment given the OP. Even after his credibility is established, some wanker wants to continue the challenge because he referred to players by number rather than name. Really?? Ever play any organized sports?
Some of you actually attacked the OP for not making it as far as Hicks has. What does that have to do with the validity of his opinion on Hicks? By that standard, none of you would be able to offer any opinion on any NFL player. But I understand, those were simply unwarranted and pathetic personal attacks. And BTW, the OP made it further in football than most here.
Thank you Chad. There are still a few here who are open-minded and confident enough in their positions to appreciate a contrary opinion. Especially one based on personal experience, which is rare.

This guy is 6'5 and now has access to an NFL team strength and conditioning program. I think if you see high motor and strong I am hoping this training camp can do wonders.
I think spags said he will be a 3rd down guy and go from there. I hope he is a tall la'roi Glover. We still have Tom Johnson, Mitch King, bunkley, Ellis, Cam Jordan can slip inside at times. People are really underestimating the guys we have right now. Jordan will have a training camp as well. He missed out during the lockout. He wasn't used much in williams system.
Defensive line is the easiest position to learn. All Hicks needs to do is hit that weight room hard and get coached up. If he is as talented as our front office and coaches think then I see no reason why he can't make an impact soon. I think we will see what he is made of in the preseason.

I value your opinion. I hope Hicks is a solid NFL player. However, history says most of these players won't pan out anyway. It's not like Hicks was a first round pick anyway.

What bothers me most is how much Akiem Hicks sounds like Hakeem Nicks
Maybe the Giants draft a defensive back named Brew Drees

Big frame, great hands, elite block shedding (even though it was against smaller Canadians like fb #30), quick feet, no real good instruction or weight training yet.... That sounds like big time potential to me... And with SpagNola....
I hear your opinion chad, thanks for posting, but I just don't respect it because I think it is an ignorant, biased and personal agenda oriented opinion. You think YOUR draft board is better researched and better thought out than professionals within the Saints' brass? Obviously the Saints realize the huge potential in the pick.
Also, If your offense was so good as to stop Hicks, why weren't you or any of your teammates drafeted into the NFL, but Hicks was??

RAAAAW. Big strong powerful. Stands up straight right away. not fast. Zero pass rushing moves (besides bull rush). Didnt take over a game as much as youd think he would. And the CIS is not an elite level at all.
When i heard this pick. i have never been more disappointed in a draft.
He has a lot of work ahead of him before he sees that field.
Alameda Ta'amu was there Brandon Thompson was there. Boykins. the list goes on...
Heres to hoping the rest of our draft turns around!

Thanks for the insight. No doubt he was not able to benefit from playing against SEC-level talent or with LSU's coaches. His physical skills are not questioned by many. His biggest weaknesses seem to be his technique and your comments seem to confirm that.

I hope the OP gets a tryout with the Saints.
