Ivory
Certified lurker here. Just wanna say after all this crap. I can't watch nfl network or Espn any more. The media is destroying this country. And people are sheep. And it sucks cause I love this country. Gonna be interesting to see this team play with a huge *** chip on their shoulder. I'm definitely glad we have Ivory too. Got a feeling he is gonna prove something. What say you. WhoDat?!!!

I think Ivory will make the 53 man roster obviously, but will be listed inactive most weeks. This will all depend on the health of our backfield of course. He's an outstanding running back nonetheless. I think Travaris Cadet will take Chris Taylor's practice squad spot though.

I wish we would trade him or Ingram and give them a chance to start. Also it would give us draft picks or more depth at another position.

We traded a 1st round pick to get Ingram. We haven't really given him a good chance to show us what he can do. We couldn't get nearly what we have in him at this point. It's good to have replacements especially at the RB position. We don't want to be running the likes of Julius Jones and Deshawn Wynn into the playoffs again.

I really like Ivory but it's clear to me he didn't run in 2011 like he did in 2010, he may or may not have had confidence after his injury. Another thing, I believe Ivory needs more touches to get a feel for the game and develop his timing. His largest benefit is wearing down a defense through punishment.....he simply doesn't get the touches for that in our system.
If Ivory was the feature back for the entire game I think he gets 100 yards, but with the way we utilize him he is just an average plug and play back. Sadly, if he were to leave the Saint's I think his career would blossom. I'm grateful we have him, you can never have enough quality talent in the backfield.

This will be Ivory break out year to me. If Ingram cant cme back 100% frm knee surgery Ivory will unload on oppsing defenses. He is my favorite running bk out of all them. He played kind of timid last year but with a full off season to get healthy the sky is the limit fr this Stud. I cant wait. #29 is a pure Beast when the ball in his hands. With Grubbs in the Black and Gold this is a running O-line now. All our backs gonna do well but its just something about Chris Ivory.

Well at this point you really can't trade either. Ingram's coming off knee surgery and wouldn't get much (maybe a third rounder). They gave up a first to get him so you'd be trading a first for a third (or less). Ivory's untradeable because of his long injury history and short NFL resume. Teams would be interested because of his flashy highlights but would probably only be willing to trade a STer/depth player for him.

Why do folks want to trade Ivory? Trading a known asset for an unknown draft pick doesn't make much sense to me. Ivory had a monster season in 2010 when he was our sole, legitimate running back and got to tote the rock 15 - 20 times a game. His injury history isnt extensive either. So what he has tweaked his hamstring a handful of times. His only significant injury was the Lisfranc fracture, but he came back fine from that last year. He is a "game closer", you need a back like him to close out a game in the 4th quarter when the lead is a touchdown or less. Also, the more touches he gets the better he'll be.

He ran fine to me, his break out game was vs the Vikings but his style is not very condusive to the style of offense we play...Ingram, PT and Sproles provide more all around ability with there pass catching than Ivory does and thought when #29 gets in the game his power and speed is a big run waiting to happen he would have to get the ball 15-20 times to see any real impact and he will only get that if the other two ball carriers (Ingram and PT) are out with an injury.

Pretty much agree.
In Ivory's defense, he got many of his touches against some very tough run defenses, and late in games when everyone knew he was getting the ball. He has good hands, and Payton obviously worked him into the passing game. He was the dump off guy, just like Pierre, but Drew is so good he didn't need the dump off guy. I think we'll see him more on screens this year.

ivory is a beast, better than ingram at this point, and think he will always be a better runner, need to work on his pass catching skills , but he is a beast that teams hate to tackle.

Ive always thought Chris Ivory had "that special something" that a HB needs to be the team's main runner. He is like Marion Barber crossed with Tim Hightower. He didnt get enough carries to put up stunning numbers last year, but I think if you bring this guy in with a lead in the 4th quarter, he could pound and gash the opposing defense and kill the clock. sort of like a fiery closing pitcher in baseball.
besides, he is a package of violence.......give him the ball!

Ok. Apparently you don't remember the end of the 2010 season when the Saints went into the playoffs with running backs that should not have even been on an NFL roster.
If it comes down to needing an every down back my money is with Ingram and Ivory.
Don't get me wrong................I love me some PT and Sproles.
But when it's needed I want Ingram or Ivory back there.
