Good stuff. I remember a few years ago the question was "Is Brees an elite quarterback?"

“No quarterback is as consistently precise with his throws as Brees,’’ Jaworski said. “Throughout his Saints career, Brees has thrown the team routes as well as any quarterback in the NFL. In fact, those vertical seams have been a foundation of the Saints’ passing game, especially effective in scoring territory.
“Brees’ last three seasons have been the most accurate stretch any quarterback has strung together in NFL history. What have I always said is the most overlooked element of quarterbacking? Accuracy. Brees possesses many attributes of high-level quarterbacking. But there’s no question that his consistent success over time has been mostly a function of his remarkable ball control.’’
Jaworski did touch on the one thing people sometimes use to knock Brees – arm strength. But Jaworski said Brees more than compensates for not having the league’s strongest arm.
“His touch and his accuracy, especially on deep throws, is outstanding,’’ Jaworski said. “Brees sets the ball right on the receiver’s hands. He does not just throw to his receiver. He hits a smaller, more defined point. It’s simple math. The margin of error decreases the smaller the target at which you aim. Brees controls his throws better than any quarterback in the NFL.’’
That’s why I’m saying I don’t think it would be wrong for anyone to rank Brees as the best quarterback in the league.

I can't read that without hearing Jaws' annoying voice inflections in every sentence and at the end of each paragraph.

You know, actually, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with that. At all.

BOOOO.
Brees is #1 and everyone knows it.
Guess when he hoists the Lombardi this year he still won't be MVP.
That's OK, just keep underestimating us.
That's how we like it.

A few years ago Saints fans would be ecstatic to have our QB ranked at #2, after years of average at best QB play. Funny how quickly we get spoiled.

How many circus catches did the Packers wr's make last year? All those ankle catches were insane.
Flynn broke records that Rodgers and Favre never could do and he did on the last game of the year.

I actually find this argument somewhat ridiculous. Jaws talks about "compensating for lack of arm strength" by his incredible accuracy, particularly on the long ball. IMHO, this just shows that Brees actually has the stronger arm. I suppose it's a matter of semantics talking between raw strength and refined strength. IMHO, Brees has better refined arm strength than any QB in the league, hands down. The reason I say that is his incredible control.
I mean, who cares if a guy can throw a ball 70 yards but can't hit the broad side of a barn with it (cough - JaMarcus Russell - cough)? Classicly, that is called "superior arm strength", but I call it uncontrolled power and just as useless as a noodle arm who can't throw 10 yards. As an analogy, a power outlet that has a short in it and delivers so much power that it shorts out anything plugged into it is effectively the same as having a power outlet that isn't getting power: it's unusable. Now, the guy who can throw it 40 or 50 yards and nail the bull's eye 95+% of the time, that's real arm strength. That is what Brees has, and that is why I say for my money, he has the strongest arm in the league (not Rodgers or whoever else someone would argue) because he has refined strength under control.

They are both fantastic, but Brees has been at it longer with amazing consistency under different coaches, coordinators, and franchises.
Rodgers gets the nod because of the Packer's national appeal. In truth, his rating was somewhat inflated by Greenbay's inability to bang it in inside the five with their running game. He's had a few garbage TD's tossing it up from the two.
If Brees were 6'5" and playing in Dallas, ESPN would rename the network after him.
