If a reporter calls you out of the blue asking if you committed a federal crime you're going to answer, Yeah? Why? Because you want to do "the right thing"? It makes no sense. At that point, there's no official investigation so why not just say "no comment" at that time since he's obviously saying "no comment" at this time.
I don't know what to believe at this point. DID this guy make the initial complaint or has be completely been thrown under the proverbial bus?

I suspect the guy felt important while talking to the reporter and did not think this through.

Or he feels as though he is not an accomplice. No where has it been established who installed the system IF it ever even existed.

If 'taking Zurik's word that he has reliable sources is enough.' None of these sources has a name, nobody in authority is willing to acknowledge anything. Lee says it, it must be true?
These witchhunts are a lot less troublesome when they happen to an anonymous name in a story that happened far away. When it happens to a real person you know, it's sobering to realize how much people are willing to believe with barely a thread of information as basis.

Gee, ESPN is not reporting this latest development in the story. They were so eager to report it at first.

Well, that's my alternate theory for trying to make sense of this, he's an idiot for attempting to get his "15 minutes" like all the idiots that think getting on a candid reality TV show is EVER a good idea. If your "ego" is so small to begin with ......

But then, IF he talked, why talk at all? Why say anything about something you know nothing about? If he said, Mr. Barr, I have no idea what you're talking about, is John Barr going to go ahead with his "source" denying it to him from the get go? At some point, Barr felt he had some sort of verification to go ahead with the story even if it's just a "nondenial denial".

I'm not an investigative reporter but its obvious even to me that Barr got his unsubstantiated Story form a disgruntled former Saints employee. Instead of investigating these allegations, Barr took the easy road to a story, he leaked the info to the Feds then rode the ensuing criminal investigation's coattails to supposedly break his story.
ESPN is even more culpable in this situation. They all but convicted Loomis, disgraceful excuse for Sports Television.

It is a sad day when people confuse Sapp for a journalist.

Either way, my guess is Landry gets an attorney who tells him under no circumstances do you talk to the Feds.

If he's telling the truth, there's little the FBI could do to him. First off, the statute of limitations would prohibit the FBI from charging him in a crime. And, assuming he was installing the system on orders, the person who orchestrated the system would be who the FBI would be after. And most likely, there isn't much the FBI could do other than try to get the people involved to perjure themselves.

Actually rainwater, the statute of limitations would not prevent the FBI from charging him, it just might prevent the US attorney's office from pursuing the case. As for who the FBI would be after, usually it's whoever they have sufficient evidence to make an arrest, whether or not they were "following orders". Being an independent contractor does not give you immunity from being charged with a crime just because someone paid you to commit said crime.

sour grapes Kenny W??
. For those that don't know, Kenny W lost his access to the saints and their facilities a few years ago. Reasons unknown. Maybe the forum is aware of more than I am. But attached is an interesting quote, would liove to know more.
ESPN's source on Mickey Loomis was fired in 2007 by New Orleans Saints - New Orleans New Orleans Saints | Examiner.com
Former WWL radio reporter Kenny Wilkerson confirmed to Fox 8 News that ESPN's Barr call him, looking for some information on suspended Saints coach Sean Payton. The former reporter then stated that he gave Barr phone numbers to a number of people including Landry.
