Louisiana State Police to review eavesdropping case by end of week
Quote:
The three-day draft nudged the latest allegations against the Saints to the back burner, but the contention that G.M. Mickey Loomis had the ability to listen to communications in which opposing coaches engaged from 2002 through 2004 has yet to go away.
It soon could.
Steve Wyche of NFL.com reports that the Louisiana State Police Superintendent Mike Edmondson said Tuesday that the agency plans to review its findings by the end of week, in order to determine whether enough evidence exists to continue.
At that point, the case could be referred to prosecutors, further investigation could occur, or the matter could be closed. Even if the case is referred to prosecutors, there’s no guarantee that charges would be filed.
Apart from the potential expiration of the statute of limitations on pursuing a criminal action, any case against Loomis likely would have no physical evidence, since the Superdome has been renovated. Last week, Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune explained on PFT Live that the suite in which the apparatus allegedly existed was dismantled and removed.

I'm sure they'll laugh a bit before throwing any papers in the trash.

I'm sure it will be spun to "Police moving forward in Loomis eavesdropping case."
As another poster said, this is an ESPN scandal, not a Saints scandal.

And I thought all they did was wait for me to drive through La so they can give me a ticket.

Surprised ESPN hasn't reported that the suite was no doubt taken apart in order to destroy the physical evidence.

this just makes no sense to me lol... You can run a string around the superdome with a tin can on the end and that would give you the ability to listen to whoever was in the room... lol I mean good lord. I have the ability to murder someone doesn;t make me a murderer. And lets waste a bunch of taxpayer dollars on this investigation created by ESPN.

ESPN created an allegation that cannot be disproved, based on a person fired for stealing from the Saints. Then, after shocking the football world with the allegation, they go silent for days.
If ESPN believed this story, they would be talking about it.

Yeah, they have been incredibly silent -- and it takes a lot for ESPN to shut its pie hole.

Yeah, exposing yourself to a massive amount of liability tends to do that...

After the investigation, I hope Loomis goes after ESPN. I'm sick of the witch hunt.

If you read the article closely, you realize that all it contains is rumors and innuendo. There are absolutely no facts and the author states
Quote:
|
"Outside the Lines" could not determine for certain whether Loomis ever made use of the electronic setup.
|
So, what evidence can there possibly be to investigate?
A source (a former disgruntled employee) says he did it. It cannot be determined that Loomis ever used it or that the information was used during games. The equipment was removed when the Dome was still flooded - someone went in there to remove it, while everyone else was trying to get out. Anecdotal evidence that the Katrina year the Saints went 3-13, which of course had nothing to do with what the team was going through that year. Then, when the Saints actually have winning records, Loomis isn't listening?
Ya, OK.

This won't take long at all. Those guys have drunk drivers, speeders and smugglers to worry about!
I wonder how many of them are season ticket holders?

If this investigation goes at it should, the "source" would be arrested by the end of the week for intentionally making a false statement to the police, exposing himself to a group of nuns and the murder of Jimmy Hoffa. If the police handle it just right, he will confess to all of it.
