Martez Wilson was a 5 star DE coming out of highschool
I just thought that this was really interesting, shows what he is capable of. He was rated 5 stars which is very rare, only like 2 on each position out of every year im pretty sure. He had 18 sacks his junior year, I know it was high school but still impressive. He was rated the #2 DE in the nation from the highschool class of 2007, Carlos Dunlap was #1. He was rated the #1 player in Illinois at ANY position. He was rated #26 player in the nation out of all positions. Pretty Impressive, put that with what Spags will teach him and we could be looking at hall of fame potential.

Wilson has a good frame, long arms and excellent speed for a pass rusher. He’s athletic enough to stand up on some plays, but his role in college will be to get after the passer. His speed in pursuit is his most impressive trait and he sheds blockers well. His frame can carry upwards to 260 pounds and his closing speed will only improve with added strength. Wilson is still raw as a football player, but he’s a tremendous athlete who changes direction very well and is a solid tackler. He uses his long reach to keep blockers at bay so he can sidestep them and make the play. Wilson plays linebacker in high school and will be more dangerous moving forward all the time rather than having the play come to him.

I find myself not too surprised that an NFL athlete was a five star high school player at most any position he'd be suited for. It would be very interesting to see how many varsity five star blue chips never pan out, or to put it another way, how many guys currently in the NFL were five star guys coming out of high school.

I think for this switch from LB to DE to workout full time, Martez needs to gain at least another 10 to 15 pounds.

Wouldn't that be more accurate if it was done by percentage? I.e. what percent of 5 star recurits from that highschool class who declared for the draft how many were drafted? I ask because most scouting websites only have about 30-50 five star recruits.

"Wilson plays linebacker in high school and will be more dangerous moving forward all the time rather than having the play come to him."
I suppose he was a LBer in HS and Yahoo and others projected him as DE in college?
But apparently he ended up sticking with his HS position in college too.
Linebacker... so he was actually a 5 STAR LBer coming out of HS.

Neither did I and according to the article he played linebacker in High School, not defensive end, as the title states

Saw that too but think it was a misprint. Should have read Defensive End from the way I understood rest of article, but they did make it difficult to tell.

Dwight Freeney is only about 245 pounds. He made a pretty good DE as far as pressure on the QB is concerned. Of course, he is also as strong as an ox.
Tez doesn't necessarily need to add any weight, but, if he could add 10 to 15 pounds, and still maintain his 4.48 speed, that would be tremendous.

I think Al Woods was a 5* DT coming out of HS.

I'm not sure any conclusions whatsoever can be drawn from his highschool Rivals star rating. DE's are paid a ton of money because the skill set is so rare. Martez has much to prove and even more to learn.

confusing at best... if misprinted what does this refer to?...
"will be more dangerous moving forward all the time rather than having the play come to him."

If you got back to what the O.P. said and realize that there were much more lower star players to begin with. The op said that there were only maybe two 5 star rating to go with each position in the nation. When you see that part, I think your info supports the ops claim. I also think that its way too early to be talking about HOF.
