My case for Brees over Rodgers for MVP

First of all, Rodgers only has Brees in the QB rating dept. and wins. But 14 wins isn't far greater than 13 wins.

However, he hasn't broken any notable records.

Conversely, Brees is now the single season yards leader, completions leader, and is the QB of what is now the most prolific offense in NFL history. He is also the only player in NFL history to have thrown for 300 yds in 13 different games in a single season. He is also the single season record holder for completion percentage, which I believe is understated because he has thrown so much. I mean almost 500 completions and 5500 yds? That makes the completion percentage even more impressive. He only has one less win that Rodgers.

I understand that Rodgers has had a great season, but what he has done is NOT record setting.

I believe that as it stands, all things being equal, Drew Brees should be the leagues MVP, and if not, he should at the very least, be Co-MVP. In my humble opinion, the MVP race should be like a challenged call, if there is not overwhelming evidence of one mans Value over anothers, then you cannot responsibly award it to said man. When mentioning that Brees has broken these records it is also worth noting that the Saints feature a top 10 rushing offense, something that the Packers cannot boast of.

Drew Brees: 108.4 QBR, 5426 yds, 46 tds, 14 ints

Rodgers: 122.5 QBR, 4643 yds, 45 tds, 6 ints

And the numbers for Brees are increasing.

Drew Brees, your 2012 NFL MVP.

Brees gets MVP after today. Rodgers doesn't compare to Brees in any way except a SB ring. He may play phenomenal this yr but we still have no 1 offense for 4 yrs in a row? Breaking record after record? What did Rogers do besides better rating this yr? Nothing! And we'll get to Lambeau and Rogers will watch the SB from his couch and that will show the world the Saints are the greatest show in the NFL. Period!

Look at that Packers scored 38 points without Rogers playing. Is their backup that good?

I think Rodgers only has 2 arguments in his favor low ints (6) and QBR.

Matt Flynn 26-37 407 yards 5 Tds 1 int. I think it's the receivers making that Qbs look good over there. The game is still going too.

You know, as the season was progressing, I was willing to settle for the same. But after seeing all of these records fall, and how good Matt Flynn was for the Packers today, it leads me to believe that if we are talking about VALUE which is what the MVP is supposed to be about, Brees deserves it. No doubt. Call it payback for the 09 season.

Shouldnt his entire body of work for the last few years be somewhat taken into account?

Even if it isn't, Brees has had a better season than Rodgers in every way except QBR and 1 win. These are negligible in my opinion. Guess who has the all time record for passing yards in a game for the Saints? Brees. Guess who has that record for the Packers? Flynn, after today. Guess who holds the record for TDs in a game for the Saints? Brees. Guess who owns it for the Packers? Flynn, again after today. It is clear that Brees is more VALUABLE than Rodgers. Thanks Matt!

I think Flynn may have played Rodgers out of the MVP trophy.

Edit: 480 yards and 6 TD's! If Rodgers makes 2 bad plays in a row, the fans will be calling for Flynn!

Drew Brees, your 2012 NFL MVP.
Just a FYI I think you mean Passer Rating not QBR, The QBR only goes to 100. Don't mean to be a dick just pointing that out.

Unless the media/voters already made their decisions and don't care.

We may hear Sean saying again after the last game -

"and the real MVP of the League"

or whatever he said exactly.
