New Orleans Saints receiver Marques Clark owes 'dream' opportunity to quarterback Drew Brees {merged - kd}

New Orleans Saints receiver Marques Clark owes 'dream' opportunity to quarterback Drew Brees - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com

Quote:
Marques Clark thought his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity came last summer. After six years away from football and getting laid off from a couple jobs, the former Henderson State receiver landed a job as the receivers coach at Westview High School in his hometown of San Diego.
Westview just happened to be the place where some NFL players like New Orleans Saints quarterbacks Drew Brees, Chase Daniel and Sean Canfield spent their summers doing passing drills.
And sure enough, Brees saw Clark coaching players on the field and asked if he wanted to run some routes.
Unbelievable, right?
Wait 'til you hear the rest of the story.
After Clark spent the past two summers joining the NFL and college players two or three times a week in those practice sessions, Brees was so impressed that he suggested the Saints give the 28-year-old Clark a tryout. The Saints, of course, took Brees' recommendation seriously - especially since it's not something he does often - and brought Clark in for a look earlier this week. And they liked what they saw enough to sign him to the 80-man roster for training camp.
I would love to see this guy make it but I just don't see how, were stacked at WR.

You have to like hearing this: "Brees said he thinks Clark dropped just one pass in the two years combined." (During informal practice sessions the last two years.)

That's awesome. I really hope he makes the PS at least. And if he's got great hands he could do well in the offense considering the widows Drew puts the ball through.

I think with this guy it is more about the story and that he has had a chance to even be in an NFL Training Camp. Maybe a new thread about what longshot we want to be invited to training camp?

I guess the fact that he recommended some 28 year old who's never played pro ball over T.O. (who he worked out with recently) says something. Maybe Owens really IS done.

I'm really rooting for this guy, Drew must love him
Think about it: "Brees to Clark on a 53 yard strike
Saints are now up by 35, the Falcons don't stand a chance now"
Has a nice ring to it
