Thanks for posting. It stated the obvious but at the same time if that's the only thing we have to deal with and we can stay injury free we have the team and the organization to win another championship. I liked the additions part I have been so engrossed in what's going on here I have not kept up with additions to teams. Brandon Jacobs to the Niners may be scary.

not much to see there. the "dents" they speak of, No Sean Payton, Joe Vitt and Loomis out some games and Vilma's suspension. It's the Denver Post and they quote Tracy Porter who says he thinks it'll be hard, but that the guys will pull through.

Not unless they can cure him of dancing around like a 165 pound scat back instead of running downhill as his size and skill should dictate.

That's a pretty weak article if you ask me. Not a single mention of Spags or our defensive signings (you'd think they'd mention Bunkley as he played for the Broncos last season) and they assume that the Giants, Packers and Niners will pick up right where they left off. At least 1 of those 3 won't win their division this year.

Seems like a casual fan of the game rather than a sports journalist wrote that. They did absolutely no research on the Saints' key additions (coaches as well as personnel), but instead only stated the obvious "Bounty Gate" garbage. I'm hoping we get to sneak up on some teams early on b/c of the impression that we won't be able to contend this year without Payton at the helm. As for GB, NYG, and SF being the real NFC contenders, they're definitely not all going to be returning to the playoffs. GB, yes, I can see, but I think the Giants are headed for a swoon this year. As for SF, I hope they fall on their faces, but Harbough seems to be a good coach and their division is weak, so they probably will be back. The Denver Post's reason for liking Atlanta to go to the playoffs--their defense--is a bit goofy, especially since we took away their best LB and they weren't very good on D last year.

That was just terrible.
We were a play away from the NFCCG, the offense and Brees set records and yet we have to 'right the ship'? We haven't played (or lost) a single game since then.
We gonna hurt some teams this year, I tell you.

So what are the DEnts saints fans?
I'll give a potential one, Lofton becomes a liability in coverage for the defense.

cogent analysis based on nfl press releases and guess work
i would like some proof of the team "reeling"
and how is it that no one, no one, no one, no one mentions the fact the the saints have a new d coordinator and several d upgrades?

It's time for all the predictions to come in. I figure most will predict the Falcons to "get over the hump", like they did in 2011, but to be honest I don't view them as the biggest rival. I think the Bucs will have a bounce back year and the Panthers are going to be better than last year.
I actually could see the Falcons at the bottom of the NFC South. Of course I hate them more than any other team in the NFL, so that might be a little bit biased.

Yeah, I have the same feeling about the Falcons.
A lot of their key players are starting to slow down, their defense is going to be a serious problem for them, Matt Ryan isn't progressing like the national media pegged him to, and the rest of the NFC South seems to have improved their rosters.
Not having Payton is going to hurt, but I don't see the other three teams close enough for it to matter much, at least in terms of the division. And so once we're in the playoffs, with the team used to playing under these circumstances, I'll feel pretty good about our chances. I just hope we can win enough during the regular season to get a decent shot at home-field.

What was the point of that "article"? Was it submitted by a 7th grader who writes for the school paper?

Not a word about our completely revamped linebacker corps. Hardly an in-depth look, and hardly enough to say the Giants and Packers rule.
We have an offense that replaced the number 1 free agent guard with the number 2 free agent guard. Only other player we lost from a record setting offense was Meachum, and we've got Toon, Arrington, and Morgan fighting to replace him. Sproles and Graham will still be money. If we make a couple of stops on defense that we couldn't make last year, we easily keep pace with the Giants and Packers, and with the upgrades at LB and a new defensive coordinator, improving the D is likely.
I could have written it for him and done a better job. Coaches are suspended, blah, blah, blah. Anything else at all to say about the Saints? No? Then do a google search. You'll only have to read the first page to get more than you've got.

Seems like that's what most analyst forget is that yeah we have a new defense being installed but fail to see the talent we have brought in to help ease those growing pains. If any other team would have signed the players we did on the defensive side of the ball that even with a new coordinator we have a chance to upgrade our defense and be better than we were the last two years. I guess we will have to get used to bounty gate being the reason why lose or win this year. Giants,Packers and Niners I will take the Giants to lose that division this year.
