Joking aside, the possibility of coercion should actually play a pretty big part in the suspension decisions.
I mean, can you really suspend Jonathan Vilma based on hearsay? We still aren't sure what direct evidence they actually have of Jon Vilma saying a certain thing. This thing is far from played out in terms of the full story.. I can't wait until we actually get a decision from the Comish so the players can defend themselves.
If it can be proven that any players actually put up money to knock opposing players out of the game, then they should be suspended. If they are just guilty of putting money into a pay for performance system, then there should be no suspensions.
3G forced them. Just watch this clip and you'll see what I mean.
All I can say is that they'd better have some rock solid evidence. As much as Godell hates litigation, he'll have a ton of it coming his way if he doesn't.
At this point with the latest devolpments....i would be shocked if anyone other than vilma was suspended....goodell wanted atleast 3-4 guys and basiclly the best players on the D there was a time when i think.....even little greer was under a chace of suspension when hes never laid down a hit on anyone it just goes to show how things have changed....atleast we no longer have to hear the word "gutted" from trolls we all know there will be no "gutting"
I would like to know what color the sky is in people's world that think there won't be any suspensionS?? Some guys are definitely gonna miss some games. 22-27 players involved in no way equals 2 suspensions. I don't think all of them will be suspended but I'm betting way more than we'd like will be. Look at the punishments we've gotten so far.....what about those punishments makes anyone believe Goodell is going to go easy on anyone? I just hope we have enough people to field a defense the first 2 games at minimum.
Lol. So I'm guessing that 3G was secretly holding a gun to Vilma's head when he put the $10,000 bounty on Favre? These are grown men we are talking about 3G didn't force them to do anything. Especially guys like Smith, Vilma or Harper who had their starting spots on lock down. I'd love to see Williams try to explain why he sat one of them in place of guys like the 2009 version of Dunbar or Chris Reis.
Why are so many people in denial about this? Is it really so hard to believe in a league full of bounties we implemented that same system with a coach that has been quoted as saying 'knock them the **** out' and that are players were willing participants in it. That we had a player with a history of participating in bounty schemes, put his own money on the table. The only difference between our team and I bet 10 other current teams is that we got caught.

If they are suspended 8 games like some think would be ridiculous especially when you think players like suh have actually tried to injure players outside the rules. We oly have a football team using bravado to motivate each other
Given Goodell's past practice, he'll suspend the entire defense. After all, Williams's speech was nade to the whole unit. And just because Bunkley, Chamberlain, Lofton, and Hawthorne weren't there, they play for the Saints now. That way, the Saints will play with no defense at all. The game will consist of the other team scoring a touchdown on every play. Then a kickoff. Wait, I forgot, they want to eliminate the kickoff entirely, so scratch that. So the Saints get the ball back and Brees engineers one of his patented 9-minute drives. (All the other teams in the league will start from their 20, but by special rule pursuant to the suspensions, the Saints will start from their 5.) Then the opponent scores again, etc. Wow, we could really eliminate a lot of injuries that way! Except for the Saints, of course. But this could contribute to moving them to Los Angeles when the New Orleans fans get fed up and stop supporting the team. This will happen for nineteen consecutive regular season games. Nineteen instead of eighteen because the Saints will also lose their bye week.
Here's the scary thing: I really don't whether or not the above ridiculous scenario could actually be possible, or whether it's the bizarro ravings of a paranoid. If Goodell continues his unchecked irrational ways, anything is possible.

Unfortunately "should" is the key word there. Players will get suspended, I have no doubt about that.

Have you got proof of him doing this? Give me proof that he put a 10k bounty on Farve. Just because the media has come out with this BS, it doesn't actually mean he did it. Innocent until proven guilty I say.
Id bet good money on nothing more than token suspensions at this point.
Vilma gets no more than 4 games and 1 or 2 other guys get a game or two. Beyond that some fines and a very clear and unambiguous statement from the league that in the future there will be lifetime bans.
