If I'm not mistaken, NFL players do, in fact, receive money for playing football. I'm sure whoever said "Pay me my money!" was a compensated employee of the New Orleans Saints.
maybe the recording was because of insentive based bonus in his contract for getting a sack or a pic or a tackle for a loss in a playoff game... oh wait that is a legal contract.. haha jeez the more I know the more I wonder how they are going to punish anyone but Williams. I have watched highlights from our SB year as much or more than anyone else... I do not ever remember hearing a "pay me my money" from the Saints bench... but if I did... who cares? that would just prove to follow suit with 53 members of every other team in the league. Everyone gets rewarded for making big plays... everyone! even kickers.
Obviously the press, nor the league, never got over being robbed of canonizing the holly Favre. Notice they never talk about the multiple turnover the Vikings committed, nor terrible blocking by the Vikings oline, they ever want to talk about are hits Favre took.
The media is still po'd they had to re-write all their stories that night.
As much good things the internet has given us over the years, this is one of the things I hate, all the false media reports just to sell.
The NFL is too focused on one thing...DRAMA!
Favre is retired, why keep beating a dead horse?
All the past 2 weeks has been "OH MY GOD they tried to put Favre out the game! They should be banned and have their Super Bowl taken away!"
That game was 2 years ago, and even with them changing the OT rules to tell the Vikings it's OK you lost, we really wanted you to win, it's just not enough.
Do you really think the Cardinals were going to come back and beat the Saints at the point Kurt Warner left the game? They were losing badly, and it already was a one sided match up.
Other than all the hits on Favre, why didn't Minnesota win? Why didn't they beat us when they bragged how they out played us that entire game? Oh they forgot, THEY TURNED THE BALL OVER 6 TIMES. But I guess fumbles and interceptions are bad too, cause Peter King thinks if you get a bonus for a big interception or game changing turnover that is wrong.
The NFL needs to grow up. 20 years ago, no one cared about this drama. There was trash talk on the field, you could hit as hard as you could and not get flags, and no one cared. They need to stop being so focused on drama and let them play football. Favre got beat down in the NFC Championship, who really cares at this point? They didn't lose because they didn't get enough penalties, they lost because they gave the Saints the ball 6 times, including the interception with 12 seconds to go when they were clearly in Field Goal range.
You know, what if it was 1989? Favre would have taken that same type of beating back then and NO ONE WOULD HAVE CARED. But since it's the National Offensive Football League where Commissioner Goodell only cares about offense in high scoring, it's made into a big deal.
I really don't know what's right and wrong anymore. If the NFL wants the bounty system to stop, and stop guys from making helmet to helmet contact, and stop hitting the QB right after he throws a pass (this is bound to happen) and stop people from touching a "defenseless wide receiver" they might as well ban the defense all together and let the game just be QB's throwing bombs all day long where no one is going to even touch them or try to stop them because they're going to be scared of a fine and possible suspension.

not to mention the get bonus for playoff play.
remember when Ricky Jackson was with the 49ers back in 1994? part of his one year contract was a million dollar bonus if 49ers won the NFC Championship game. And as i recall, Ricky Jackson played a best in that game.

this reminds me of the 49ers game way too much

Another example of King's journalistic embellishment. If there was a recorded of that comment ("pay me the money") he needs to present it or stop the lying just for drama sake.
after many players make a big play, they do this "eating out of a bowl" move which is them basically saying they are eating. As Falcons Witherspoon put it in an interview, you gotta play hard to eat and when they make a big play, they are basically saying I'm earning my check.
Isn't that basically the same thing as a defender saying "pay me" after making a big play!? We see that almost every game, file this under the "who cares " file!
