Roger Goodell Has Lost Control of Everything
This is not the NFL that I grew up loving. It is becoming WORSE than Pro Wrestling. At least in Pro Wrestling we all KNOW its fake. But the NFL executives are fake, but most of the public cant see it because they are blinded by their love for the game. Saints fans see it clearly because we have exposed them for who they are. But others do not want to see it because, again, they are blinded by love for football.
I cant say that I blame them. I love football too, alot, and if this was happening to another team im not so sure I would care too much either. Regardless of what Goodell is doing to the Saints, NFL fans are not happy with Goodell overall. They are starting to see him for who he really is. He cannot continue to get away with this. This is America. I miss Paul Tagliabue

Take a deep breath brother. We are all frustrated, in 10 more days the next step in the vilma case will be taken. I'm sure until all will be quiet and status quo pertaining to Vilma and his battle against The clown.
Still you have to love being a Saints fan right now! No matter how mad the owers, media or the nfl brass make us. Right now we have a CONTENDA! A team that has a chance to win it all, a hall of fame quarter back that does as much for New Orleans on the field as off.
And that team is going to claw and fight for every inch for us WhoDats on every level and against all enemies.
God its great to be a WhoDat!!!

I needed that man.. thank you.
Just last night at work I asked a co-worker if he is ready for football season to start.. He told me yes, especially this year he is ready because his cousin just got drafted by the Bears in the 3rd round.. Brandon Hardin... The same guy who had just injured his neck in a game recently, he got carted off the field.. he is ok now.. But anyways, he asked me who my team is and i told him the Saints. I told him that bountygate has been stressing me out. Then he said "isnt that where the Saints were paying people to injure others?"
I realized his cousin had just gotten injured and that it was a touchy subject, obviously. So i began to defend the Saints, and i started talking about Goodell.. his first question was "who is Goodell?". I thought to myself OMG. I tried to start explaining, but i didnt even know where to begin. I realized he wasnt even listening to me anyways. The only people who listen to me, are Saints fans. Its very frustrating. They do not understand the love we have for the Saints. They will never understand.

If anything is like wrestling it's the NBA, but I get what you're saying, and sadly the NFL is going down that same route.

You've hit the nail on the head and are expressing what many feel. He's a fail at everything and all he has is his wizard-of-oz megaphone, curtain, and smoke machine.
When I was a kid, Pete Rozelle was as much a hero as the players and coaches were. He was humble in his public persona, and I felt like he was a fan of the fan. Tagliabue was aloof, but I always felt like he too had the fan's back, long before his timely insistence to Benson to keep the Saints in New Orleans after Katrina.
At the end of the day, Roger has been revealed to be a dumb jerk whose mere presence is a stain on the game and the brand.

Politics in sports, whether it be professional or little league takes the fun and passion right out of it. I had the head of a playground tell me "Yes your son is of age but he's also a little big for his age and the other parents are complaining about him being bigger than their kids." And this was the parents of his team mates!
Goodell obviously has his picks and chooses on which teams and owners he wants to succeed. If a disgruntled employee of the Patriots made the same allegations against his ex team, would the punishment have been so extreme? It's all political and it makes me sick!

Actually, the Nazis lost several gold medals to "inferior peoples" in their at-home Olympics and nobody got shot.
Try: Soccer in Saddam's Iraq.

I said this in another thread, but it applies here too:
I can see our children asking the same question about football that we did about professional wrestling; "Daddy, is football real? Do they really hit each other?"

There are a few guys at work that are football fans. They know I'm a Saints fan. When I try to explain the whole ordeal, they always say "You sound bitter". I respond with "Well, wouldn't you if they were doing this to your team"?
I think it's more that they really have no clue into all the stories that are going on. They are youngins still sucking on the ESPN teet.

Aikman was on Real Sports last year and said that we would look back at the lockout as the beginning of the end of the NFL as it was. I wanted to tell myself that he was just being dramatic, but I sort of knew that he might be right. The game has changed guys, and it's never going back. I count myself lucky that we were alive to see the NFL at its peak, with modern super athletes still playing within the brutal old school rules.

Sorry, but the NFL as a sport, is vastly different then it was back in 2002, 2003. Having to be careful how you hit a receiver to dislodge the ball during a catch.... (just 1 example). Soon there will be no kickoffs. Which in turn equates to no onside kicks.
The NFL has moved away from the sport we all once loved and is becoming something else. I find myself struggling to remain a fan of the sport. I used to run myself crazy trying to watch every NFL pre-season game. Now, I don't even think much of it.

The only sports I watch now are Football and MMA. It will suck if Football becomes unwatchable...

You should never make fun of someone's fecal incontinence.
Oh wait, it's Roger Goodell. Proceed.
