Here is an awesome article by Pat Kirwan that explains how the Saints possess an offensive scheme and prowess that the league is attempting to imitate. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
Three of his top ten offensive teams are in the NFC South.
I noticed that also. Which, to me at least, begs the question. Why haven't we built up better defensive talent? You build your team to win your division first and foremost. So, why haven't we countered the offensive trend with better defensive coaching and talent. Hopefully, Spags brings us full circle.

U dont think we've tried? Go look at our last few drafts an free agency.

because i believe that SPs philosophy is to put pressure on opposing offenses by scoring. I think that helps our defense by making teams one dimensional. We are so well-rounded on offense, that opponents cannot stop us. They truly have to hope we make multiple mistakes.
How many times have you watched a game where we score on 3-4 consecutive possessions? That makes the opponents possessions that much more important AND increases the pressure on them to execute/score just to keep up.

For what it's worth, we have. Greer, Rodgers, Franklin, Alex Brown and numerous draft picks to name a few. Not leaving out GW of course.
We may not have struck gold on all those choices like we have on offense, but they are trying to get it right.
Why we haven't been dawned "the greatest show on any turf/grass ever" still escapes me.
Ask 10 people if the 2001 Rams were better and 9 of them will tell you yes despite all the numbers saying otherwise. The media does nothing to help with that perception outside of a few articles like this one.

looking back at games I recorded, I don't think GW's defense was not very helpful to the young players he had running it. It's a trend he has gone through repeatedly. He gets toa team, he has an immediate effect on the defense. As years go on his defense gets younger and more complicated at the same time. By the end of year three or four, people want him out of town.
Lot ofwords to say, I like the saints talent on defense last year more than I liked the defensive coordinator.

Playing defense is too hard! We just let opposing teams do what they want so we can put 40 on'em.
Kirwin did sorta punt on that top 10 list. Outside of the top 3, it was weak.
I mean, if he considers what Atlanta has now as a "big 3", did he not before, when it was White, Turner, and Gonzales? Obviously their offense wasn't putting up a lot of points.
He should have left off the list and the rest was fine.
