Saints Can Scoop Up Darrelle Revis for practically nothing in 2017

For a team in desperate need of CB/Secondary help, I would sure hope Loomis is looking very hard at Revis at the moment. The Jets are paying 5 million of his salary in 2017 regardless of where he plays, with the team he will be playing on making up any difference in contract. You would basically get one of the best corners (by far best remaining in FA) for free, with a world of knowledge, expertise and instincts.

New Orleans Saints Rumors: Team Could Sign Darrelle Revis For Cheap In 2017

It would probably work out just like Champ Bailey.

This was two (2) yrs. ago, but...

...Revis recorded a a 56.5 passer rating allowed in 2015, third-best mark in the NFL.

Yes, he's no longer Revis Island, but he's still serviceable.

Bailey was 35 when we signed him.

Revis is 31 and can still play in this league. He's not the best CB in the game anymore, but we aren't in a position to not take chances at this point. We need to take some risks.

I can see the Pats getting him to replace Butler when we trade for him

I was thinking the same thing, but Saints should start playing the game like the Patriots do, have Revis come in for a visit and "leak" that they are "close" to signing him. Make the Pats blink and send us Butler for a reasonable draft pick when they think we are looking elsewhere.

Don't forget, while he isn't Revis Island, the Jets defense wasn't exactly the New York Sack Exchange either. They played hard, but their problems didn't stem from Darrelle Revis.

If we could sign him to a good team friendly deal, we would be stupid to pass on him.

I've seen Revis ***** out of making a tackle on more than one occasions. We don't need that

No thanks. I would rather let the young guys get more experience. Now if he still available and we have a couple injuries in preseason then maybe. Now I f we were coming off a playoff birth, but I seriously doubt he would want to come here unless he could get the most money here. We will be good once we acquire Malcolm Butler. Malcolm Butler, Delvin Breaux, PJ Williams, Sterling Moore are a nice set of corners IMO. Then we have Damian Swann, Ken Crawley, BW Webb, Kyle Wilson, De'vante Harris, Jimmy Pruitt, Taveze Calhoun, and maybe a few rookie corners taking in the draft or UDFA to battle it out for the 5th, 6th, and maybe even 7th spot. I think we will have a nice group of corners if they can stay healthy. Swann has flashed some potential, but them concussions are nothing to play with. The year before last Kyle Wilson had a decent bounce back season with a change of scenery after being a bust with the Jets. Webb was decent depth last season. Crawley and Harris were also decent depth UDFAs that were thrust into way more playing time than expected last season. I don't know about Pruitt & Calhoun. I wouldn't be looking to add a corner in the draft unless they are the BPA at our pick. I think we should do like last year and bring in a few good UDFAs. Once we add Butler, I think we will be ok at corner if we can stay healthy as always.
