if it really was Remi, and he speaks up and says it was him, doesn't that actually hurt the Saints' position that there weren't any bounties?

Depends on what he says the conversation was about. Was he shooting craps on the sideline?

Who cares who said it, it was said on the Saints sideline, it happened, and someone probably got illegally paid for a big hit on Favre.
Now, let me connect the dots for everyone:
Remi got paid (or didnt!) for his Favre hit.... Remi told Viking teammates there was a big payout for that play on Favre... That word got to Brad Childress.... Brad Childress reported it to the league.

Why would we re-sign him if that was true?

Here's a scenario I haven't seen mentioned yet: What if the person that said "give me my mo ey" was neither Remi, Anthony, nor Bobby? A cameras lense is uni-directional, but most microphones are omnidirectional. That could be ANYONE in the vecinity of the camera saying it! Which means that this phrase could be taken completely out of context! It can't be proven either way! This video should not even considered evidence of anything!

If they can't prove Hargrove said it, then it proves nothing. If this were a real investigation done according to the rules of legal procedure, there would be some forensic voice analysis--unless the prosecutor was sloppy or negligent and/or the defense lawyer was half asleep.

First for who cares who said it: The NFL, why?, because it is their evidence against Hargrove. Remember he was suspended for lying to the league.
2nd part of the evidence is the Saints had a "QB out" pot in that game. This would be fairly close to pay for injury, but not 100%. Similar to p4p for a big hit it still wouldn't be trying to intentionally injure. Just trying to knock someone out the game. There is still a distinction, which is why Rex Ryan is not suspended for "dotting".
3rd what if Vilma is just off camera and said it? Didn't he just get an interception?
4th what if there was a bounty in that game? Wrong - yes, Should be punished - yes, but not what the league stated and not the charge for what the league punished the Saints. Remember 3 years and Newton, Rodgers & Warner were supposedly specifically targeted.
But all that said I think more than anything, it shows the league is stating things as fact, that are simply not the case.

I think Hargrove also got suspended because he was walking a very very fine line with the commissioner after his prior league suspension. When Hargrove admitted to be involved with ANYTHING that was against the rules, action was taken with prior convictions in mind because Hargrove didn't keep his nose 100% clean.

He was suspended for lying:
Anthony Hargrove suspended for lying, says NFL - NFL.com
Quote:

NFL general counsel Jeff Pash said Friday that former New Orleans Saints defensive end Anthony Hargrove, who received an eight-game suspension as part of the NFL's investigation of the Saints' "bounty" program, was not punished for taking or contributing money for hits, but for lying about the program itself.
|
Somebody was commenting on PFT today saying the player's punishments were harsh for lying. Vilma, Fujita & Smith were never interviewed during the investigation, how could they lie.
-- My point being is the NFL tells us the reason for the suspensions. If we make up new things, then we are are doing what they are doing with the evidence.

bravo. one of my biggest frustrations is that people have taken to throwing anything they can get their hands on against the wall and seeing what sticks. its kind of like the mosaic the nfl painted - "theres so much up there, it must be true!"
in reality, when making this case - sticking to concise, 100% accurate talking points that are focused on the core issues will go a lot further, even if theres less volume.
also acknowledging that there are issues on both sides.
i think this all needs to get addressed and fixed but no one takes you serious when you just start flinging feces back at the other side like they did to you.

You're right, I'm sure Hargrove's prior NFL and legal problems had NOTHING to do with Goodell's decision to suspend Hargrove eight games....
Use your brain dude! You can show me all the articles you want stating why the NFL did what they did, but like almost everything e.se they're telling us, I don't believe it at face value and there is more to it.

even more important possibly is that hargrove is a bit crazy. and i mean that in a sincere sense - hes disappeared on teams, hes rumored to have multiple personalities - id imagine he might not present well in a formal setting like this.

For someone who has been incessantly preaching to everyone that they should stick to the facts, I find it odd that you didn't hesitate to further propagate some serious and unsubstantiated allegations about Hargrove's mental state without qualifying it.
