I'm thinking Chamberlain starts. He's a good player, much more proven then Wilson, and he has the Spags connection from the Rams.
I'd just cut Vilma and go with this new group already. Better to build for the future then keep juggling Vilma's injuries, coming suspension, etc.
I think they'll wait and see with Vilma, if he is suspended for the year, he wont cost us anything, so might as well keep him as insurance for next year in case one of these guys gets hurt or doesnt work out.
Vilma days are numbered I cant help but think that....we will be releasing some players to make this work under the cap...we still havent signed Brees...Brees hasnt even signed the Franchise Tag...Lofton is a pure MLB and Hawthorne can play OLB and ILB...and both Hawthorne and Lofton signed 5yr deals...thats an investment.
WILL (Hawthorne) Mike (Lofton) SAM (Wilson)...these former starters did not sign to be backups or insurance especially Lofton....
“He wanted to come back there,” Hawthorne’s agent Russel Hicks said. “He got his NFL start there, but unfortunately Seattle did not make him a priority to bring him back and New Orleans made it a priority to get him signed.
“Personally I just wish they would have made a better attempt to bring him back, but they didn’t. And David does, too.”
Talks between the Seahawks and Hawthorne intensified a week ago, but ultimately the two sides never got to the point where they agreed on financial terms or length of the contract, and Hawthorne went with the offer he had on the table from New Orleans.
Hicks said that New Orleans showed interest in Hawthorne at the opening of free agency, and still pursued Hawthorne even after the team signed Atlanta free agent linebacker Curtis Lofton.
2) How many LBs are we legit going to keep on the roster?
Challenges and adversity confront us everyday, They motivate and inspire us to always find a way. Sometimes it is the hand we're dealt or just the circumstance, But together we can rest assured we always stand a chance. Our attitude and courage are as strong as they have been, And once again we will rise up to proclaim that we're ALL IN. --Drew Brees
