Sean Payton cost us this game

With his pathetic playcalling, he played not to lose instead of to win.

I will never understand why he goes away from what's working. The Saints were killing the Pat with the run so Payton starts passing. Then EVERYTIME he calls a sweep its to the short side of the field where it can easily be bottled up.

TWO times the Saints had the ball and all they needed to do was make a first down and Payton couldn't dial up anything imaginative and we lose.

i thought they would have been very lucky to get that win. anyone who is not a homer could tell the game calling today was awful and drew was not playing a very good game.

Two chances to ice the game and we go all vanilla. You have to put away the game on the road.

Brees too, way too many missed opportunities and complete huddle mismanagement.

Our too best assets let us down today big time. At least they have a bye to get their **** together.

Agreed we could've run the clock more and scored the TD! Still the way it played out, we had 3 drives to get 10 yards. You gotta convert and close it out!

Stupid play calling...absolutely stupid. As OP said killing with run so let's pass. Payton lost this game in the end with the calls and if you can't see it you are as blind as the refs.

I agree, and the red thumbs are going to be flowing here, but I write what I see. While I am not gonna say his playcalling lost the game, it was terrible. Just terrible. Worst I have seen in 3+ years. I just feel like he thinks he can't run it as many times as he throws. Seriously what coach in the NFL wouldn't run it more than pass if you get 4+ yards every play running? Nobody except for Payton. In the end it cost them big time because the Pats had 1:15 left to go downfield and score.

Drews performance was also brutal, from missing wide open players, throwing into double coverage way too many times, and not getting the snaps off in time. Not having those timeouts killed us at the end of the game. The defense could have for sure of used them to get a breather on the last TD drive to win it for the Pats.

I will say I was really disappointed in Jabari Greer. He has always been my favourite player on the defense but this year he is just looking a little to slow and way to small to play in this NFL, can't compete with anybody on the jump balls.

Agreed, we deserved to lose. Sean and Drew were off their game the entire game. The worse part, however, are the potential injuries to our best players on offense (Graham) and defense (Jordan).

Look, Payton has been great here. He has done things we have never seen.

But this loss is SQUARELY on his shoulders. 100%. It could not possibly be any more on him. He was exactly what Sean Payton isn't today. He played safe. No blood in the water. He gave it away. It's all on him. He owes an apology to the team for that one.

The Refs helped a LOT also. BS penalty leads to a FG for the Pats. Bad call on our 4th and 1, and an ic because noone notices a timeout

Drew and Sean have to eat this turd sandwich for two weeks. clock management and play calling were disgusting we had two chances to ice this game and we wet the bed. defense played so hard for us to win that one and the offense just completely let them down. man im so ****ing mad its drinking time.

Indeed, as Dickson noted, Brees seems almost compelled to lead. He doesn't do it out of obligation. With him, it seems to happen almost reflexively, like breathing.
