Am I reading #2 wrong? How is the #15th overall pick worth a 2nd and a 7th?

I'm confused you want to trade our first for (1) a first and second or swap it for (2) a second and a seventh?
If scenario 2 plays out that would be the worst trade ever and all fans would be ******. Belicheck always trades out of the first and stockpiles picks which is nice, but his second round selections are typically average at best.
We should stay where we are and draft bpa, unless we are only dropping down a couple of slots (no more than 20th) in exchange for a 2nd or 3rd and coaches/Mickey feel one of their targets will still be there.
Can't answer the question without knowing whose there and what we get, but I am against trading down.

I don't think it's a good idea to trade out of the first round considering their are definately some right away defensive impact players in the 1st round(which is what we need). However, if the staff does not see a player that they are just crazy about, I'm all for moving back in the first round and regaining our second round pick, seventh round pick, and maybe an additional pick(depending on how far back we move). This would be a good scenario considering just on defense, we need to draft a safety(harper/jenkins duo must be broken up), rush linebacker, 3-4 DE, cornerback, depth player at nose tackle. Offensively unless we sign Bushrod back, an OT (think the position needs an upgrade regardless of Bushrod), Tall explosive impact receiver, TE depth behind Graham and Higgins.

For a rebuilding team----Good.
For a championship caliber saints team missing only one or two impact guys--bad.
I say trade up for Lotulelei or Ansah.

we never trade back. with as many holes we have on defense we need quality players.i would like them to trade back, but i don't see it happening. and for those who think ansah will b our pick. not going to happen. payton drafts first round picks from big time colleges. i.e. usc, alabama . ohio state.

We can get a rush line backer in later rounds and he is one of the best in the draft his name is Brandon Jenkins from FSU

We are not one or two players away from a Super Bowl. Offensively you can argue that we are still around that level, but could stand to improve greatly by making one or two upgrades at certain positions and adding a player. Defensively we need three to four people who can come and be good solid starter caliber players (not necessarily pro bowl level), and one of those being a stud player, in order to make make very significant improvements defensively.

The Draft is very deep this year at many positions of need for the Saints. Yet there aren't many "can't miss" guys at the top, so trading down would be great. For example, what if the Saints could pick up a 2nd, another 3rd, and maybe a 7 from one of the teams with a surplus. No brainer for me. The problem is that the Saints won't be the only team wanting to do that.
As much as I really want to see a trade down happen, I actually see the Saints picking at 15 this year.

there are 2 reasons why to drop out of the first rd.....
1) Get an extra pick......experts all agree. There is not much difference between players from the 10th pick, and the 40th pick. I heard this from Bill Polian, who agrees with teams looking to trade down from their current draft position. Getting out of the first rd, and picking up another player between say, the first 45 players where their grade is very close, its smart. I hope M Loomis takes that in consideration.
2) The Saints track record in drafting first rd defensive talent is below average...some might argue, well below average. maybe Loomis is getting tired of all those misses in the 1st rd, and is looking to get out of the 1st round, if he has a good trade available.

Why would we trade a late 1st pick for a second and 7th? That's ridiculous!
Early to mid 2nd and 3rd or a late 2nd, 4th and 5th is more likely.
