We need to Draft and Sign For ...

THE RUN GAME and to GET TOUGHER.

If we learned Anything this season, it's that we have to be able to run the ball in bad weather and be tougher on the offensive line and stopping the run on defense.

So, there are several positions that we could draft and sign to help this improvement effort.

Specifically, offensive line, linebacker, fullback come to mind.

I'm not saying don't pass, but we need to be able to own another team in their house with the running game when necessary, like we were able to do in 2009.

Running the ball and stopping the running is the key to winning in January. However, at some point teams will stack the box and that's when you need to have a WR that can blow the top off of the defense.

That sounds familiar...didn't we do that to the Philadelphia Eagles, who had the best rushing attack and a top 10 rushing defense?

I believe the Saints should NOT be reactionary in considering who to draft or sign in free agency. They should add players that fit their schemes and philosophies. If that means that they add better runners, run blockers or run stoppers, then so be it. But I don't think they need to try to "match up" with any particular teams in order to be more successful in the playoffs. Build your team and let other teams worry about matching up with you.

I'd like us to go to a power running game scheme and feed off of play action.

I would really love physical WRs and ballhawking DBs.

You mean like they did in Philly and Seattle? Our run game I believe is fine. If you want power, Robinson will deliver, and let's face it, although there is a huge hater crowd on here there is no way Ingram is not our starting RB next year.

Is something wrong with our fullback who is probrably and arguably the best true fullback in the game?

Improve the O-Line play overall. If we can protect Drew while mixing in the run effectively, we win more games. If we don't give the ball back to NE and Carolina late, we win the division.

Draft a starter at C in the second or third, and some better G and T depth. We can probably afford an upgrade at FB in FA if one is out there too. More of a Heath Evans type who can give us another weapon on the field - this would definitely give us more options out of a two back set.

Will I like ole' Jed, he is just a very 1 dimensional players. And in the NFL today, that doesn't fly really well. At the very least, if you are gonna be just a blocking FB, you really need some soft hands and be comfortable catching the ball and plowing a guy for 4 yards as a check down on an otherwise well covered play.

There isn't a ton on room on NFL rosters for 1 trick ponies, unless that trick is pass rushing.

The whole team needs to be tougher with more swagger. Tough teams like the Seahawks are taking our lunch money. The players that can't be tough should be replaced.

Ingram made a nice run and trucked 1 of the Seahawks on the sideline. He popped right up and acted like he trucked Ingram. That's what we need. I like the way Khiry handles himself... understated swagger. The fans may not notice it, but the players can't miss it. Vaccarro is another one. He will hit you and get in your face and tell you there's more on the way.

You're underestimating Jed's value. He's tough, strong, smart, and has good hands. You ain't seen nothing yet, when (if) we start running the ball, Jed will shine.
