What Should We Expect to See Against The Texans on Saturday?
With some fans in distress about our insignificant loss to the Jaguars... What do you guys suspect we'll see in this game against the Texans on Saturday? Typically, the "3rd preseason game", is supposed to be the "dress rehearsal", for most teams starters. I hope to see the following:
1. Better tackling, sound defensive assignment along with good QB pressure.
2. Better O-Line protection.
3. A score on our opening drive.
*How long do the starters play?

look for more competition between Cadet and Ivory late in the game.
Brees will get more snaps. (as long as he doesn't get hit too much.)
Colston, Moore, and Graham will probably catch a few.
Hopefully we can see some progression in the tackling and hole plugging department.
more takeaways.

I'm no expert but I would think the Texans game will tell us more about where we are as a team than the 4th preseason game. I think we may place an emphasis on staying healthy and not worry too much about the Titans. I look for the 1's to play significant time against Houston and we will see our 2012 team. I think so anyway.

Good test for the run defense. I wanna say they'll do better, but that Texan run game is pretty serious. Hopefully, they get it together and bring their A game.

I'm hoping for pure domination. This is the game where the starters and for sure players who will make the team. This is the game to put it all together for three quarters.
Remind you, we are playing a very good Texan team. They are for sure a playoff team.

One thing of note... Jimmy Graham has not had a reception this preseason. Also, do you think Sproles plays Saturday?

I think it will be a fairly physical game. Unlike last year since they played each other for real 4 weeks later... I think both teams will play this one like a regular season game. That includes game planning to some extent.
This will be a good test for the OLine as the Texans can get good pressure. It's also a great test for the run defense.
Those are probably the two biggest things I'll be looking at this game for importance towards the regular season.

i want to see patrick robinson wrapping up ball carriers and being physical jamming at the line if not lets get the younger guys some reps because our secondary is way too soft right now even without porter who was as passive as they come

The Saints OL will get a good test. Texans were top 5 in team D last season. However they will be missing their starting DT Cody and DE JJ Watt.
Likely be the best D we will face until later in the regular season. Our D will also get tested by all the play action the Texans run.

I hate playing the Texans - mainly because they do the most cut-blocking in the entire league, and that is a great way to blow out an ACL or two. I'm just praying we get through the game injury-free.

This is a well seasoned veteran team so what I look for is...nothing. Well, I'm looking for no major injuries and thats it. There is very little you can glean from the pre-season for the Saints besides the depth chart. Like the Colts going 0-4 during pre-season then 14-2 during the regular.
Nothing to see here!

Brees and the rest of the starters will probably play, if not close to, the entire first half.
