Will Patrick Robinson build on his 2011 season?
Quote:
He started off the campaign slowly, allowing Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers to finish with a 158.3 quarterback rating (5-for-5 for 80 yards and one touchdown given up), according to Pro Football Focus.
But he quickly recovered and finished the season, playoffs included, allowing quarterbacks to finish with just a 65.8 rating against him, ninth-best in the NFL for those cornerbacks who played 60 percent of the team’s defensive snaps.
As a comparison, Tracy Porter, who signed with Denver in the offseason, allowed quarterbacks a 100.4 rating in throws to his area of coverage.
Robinson led the Saints with four interceptions in 2011 and was second in passes defensed with 14, behind only Jabari Greer’s 23.

He caught 4 picks and was the only one catching footballs. Huh?

Wow he did. Well my secondary anger mostly towards Harper and Jenkins have went towards him. Well still improve those hands and tackle better also stop playing 50 yards off his man and I'm good. Have down year when his contract is up to save us money and he's everything I wished for.

He doesn't choose to play 50 yards off his man, thats just one of the flaws in GW's system. On third down and 4 lets blitz 7 guys and play 15 yards off the man, yeah makes sense.

Absolutely.
I thought he was outstanding for a 2nd year corner with no serious starting experience going into the season.
He's amazing in press coverage, tackles well, and has shown good ball skills. He's only going to get better.

I think Spags will put the CB's in better positions for them to make plays, therefore Robinson and others should be able to improve.

I'm not sure how things will turn out with more zone based coverage. I believe Robinson and Greer both are better man to man corners than zone corners. Buffalo let Greer walk because his outstanding man to man play diminished as they gradually switched to more zone, and this in no way implying Greer is horrible in zone.
I think we will see more interceptions due to zone coverage/blitzes, but I'm not so sure that overall coverage will get better.

Yeah, me too. When he plays decisively and with confidence, he's great at shooting those gaps in the run game and breaking up screens.

From what I understand u will see more zone based safety play, but still man to man on the parameter.

2011 NFL Team Passing Stats - National Football League - ESPN
Check St. Louis' pass D versus ours. That's a sizable amount of yardage difference, which I would believe has to do with scheme since most of the injuries for them happened at the CB position. Interesting to see that the Saints only gave up 3 more passing TD's though.

Nobody runs all zone anymore, even the Bears dont run it as much as they used to. Im sure Spags will have more zone coverage for the safeties and LB's, with the CB's playing press man or off man.
