Randy Mueller had the system installed. Rick stayed with the team for several years after his brother's firing I believe.

He's working for the Chargers in some capacity but I'm not sure exactly what his title is. GM-in-Waiting maybe.
I always thought he was overrated. A lot of fans liked him because in his own way, he made it happen too. He was very active in free agency and always swung for the fences but he had as many K's as he did homers. Loomis isn't as splashy but I think ultimately more effective.

Yes, Rick was in charge of pro scouting and was responsible for bringing in studs such as Tebucky Jones. (Haz gets some credit here too I imagine.)

I think some people are confusing Randy and Rick Mueller. I don't think Rick Mueller was fired by the Saints. I think he took another job elsewhere. Randy WAS fired by Benson. I've heard a few stories as to why: 1) He covered up the Haz/Saintsation affair. 2) He used the company credit card without approval to play golf at Augusta. 3) He made personnel moves without consulting with Benson first.

Nope. That was Bill Kuharich. The moves I was referring to were La'Roi Glover, Norman Hand, and Joe Johnson specifically.
EDIT: Unless you're talking about the trade to Miami.

Rick wasn't fired per se but his position was "consolidated" or something like that. He was fired in all but name.

I know a lot of people didn't like Fourcade, but The Morning Drive was pretty darn good. The Sports Hangover started off nicely, but as Larry pretty much regulated Gus to a cartoon puppet sidekick (you know the kind, with their own stupid catchphrases [Gus saying 'Twittah' everytime someone mentions Twitter]) and now has free reign to MOD EDIT, its gotten less and less tolerable. If Garland isn't having a particularly interesting show, I'll still tune in. But I just as quickly turn away when the show gets unbearable. I can give or take Eric Asher, never really cared for him but I guess I don't listen enough to him to get a negative impression either, but Kaare Johnson is by far the worst thing on radio. I have to switch stations during commercials when his irritating voice starts up, and needless to say I can't tune into his show (even when he's got a good show subject).

If you don't like the programming on 690, you won't have to worry about it very much longer (as I understand things).

I was listening to Kaare Johnson today (I'm actually one of the apparent few people here who enjoys listening to him, and that's ok), and Kaare posed the question: Who has more credibility regarding the wiretapping scandal, ESPN or Mickey Loomis? His question, of course, was almost rhetorical as he said ESPN was one of the most powerful, credible sports entities around; and Loomis (or anyone associated with the Saints front office, for that matter) lacked any real credibility these days.
I was kind of taken aback, as I think it's the complete opposite. If you ask virtually anyone associated with football operations in the NFL, I think almost to a man Loomis is regarded as a highly likeable, intelligent, virtuous GM.
On the other hand, ESPN --or "the four-letter network" as they are called by other sports outlets -- to me lacks almost any credibility at all. There are rumors of rampant sexual harrassment (see Steve Philips, Mike Tirico, and Harold Reynolds); There are people like Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith, whom i'm not sure ANYONE in the general listening public respects. There are shows like ATH and PTI, which try to make celebrities of journalists who know a little about all and know all about nothing. There's the NFL gameday crew of Chris Berman, Tom Jackson, Key Johnson, Chris Carter, and Mike Ditka....a murderers row of idiocy. SportsNation might be the dumbest sports show on television. The irony, of course, is that the best sports journalist on ESPN is Bob Ley, and he's been squeezed out so hard that I wonder sometimes if he even works there.
And then there's the Bernie Fine story, which directly resulted in his firing.
I wanted to call Kaare today and give my opinion, but i'm lazy and I didn't.

Yeah, what happened to his show? It was only on for a couple months or so, right? I remember thinking it was the best local sports radio show I had ever heard.

Well spoken. You should have called Kaare and said exactly that.

I agree Broadmoor. Schefter is the best thing ESPN has going for them. It's a long fall from there to #2.

I have a hard time listening to Eric Asher these days, its just hard to take him seriously when he's stuffing his face at all these remotes and spends 10+ minutes advertising the remote location. Yes Eric, tell us about all the food at Cafe B in grave detail.
