Would anyone consider.....
Trading a 5th rounder for Colt McCoy and letting him be an understudy to Brees for about 3 years(Drew's Prime)
He'd be 29 and would give us another 4-5 years after Brees.
Just a thought but FLAME away...its a boring saturday anyway

There has to be a reason that Cleveland doesn't even want to give him a shot.

I'm not done thinking that there's something more to Daniel. The coaching staff has liked him so far. They've proven themselves better at judging talent than me so far...

Well honestly he doesn't have a big enough arm to fair in their open stadium conditions especially during home games.
Things would be much easier for him in a dome for 8(minimum) games a season instead of maybe 3 or 4

Take it from a Longhorn fan... Colt McCoy does not have a pro arm and he's always had a throwing shoulder that has very little cartilage. He's the clone of Major Applewhite, so I'd expect him to be out of playing football soon, and starting a coaching career.
While one could say he's been given little to no weapons in Cleveland, there's good reason why Holmgren is tossing him under the bus two years in.

No. I want Brees succesor to be younger than 30 when Drew hangs up his cleats. Which is why I dont think Daniels will be a good succesor either.

Don't worry about Drew's backup - he's going for Blanda's record
that's been the hold-up - trying to structure a 15 yr contract

So you want to sign Drew for 5 years and kick him out after 3? Colt only has 2 yrs left on his contract so you'd have to re-sign him as well. I'd rather keep that draft pick.

I like the idea and by most reports it won't take a 5th rounder. I think we could send them a 6th rounder and call it a day. Chase is on his last year and may want an opportunity to start else where next year. Colt could step right in vs. having to go with a rookie or aging vet at backup.

When was the last time we took a QB in the draft? I can't remember one. It's been a while, hasn't it?
PS - Tom Brady went 6th round in the draft. Now I know most draft picks don't pan out - but I'd rather save that pick. You never know.

That's right. Thanks for reminding me. From what I hear, Sean looked pretty decent in the OTA.

The Browns know something about McCoys concussion that the rest of the league doesn't. That shot that James Harrison put on him was vicious! I think it is the reason for his premature departure from Cleveland.
Payton has an eye for QB's. He found Tony Romo and got Dallas to sign him as an UDFA. Then Payton groomed and schooled him for Jerry Jones. I'm confident he'll be able to do it for New Orleans when Brees is finished.
