Yes, we do have cornerbacks
So with Greer and Robinson sitting with injuries the backups have had a chance to get in there and mix it up with the first team. So what cb has impressed you the most, and who has a chance of surprising and sticking around?

Ive always liked J Patrick, dude is confident, and very athletic. He'll win the Nickel Job, he impressed me the most.
M Johnson, is pretty interesting, didnt have much chances in the past due to injuries, but kid is making his presence known, great job by Spags to bring him along.
Corey White is ok, but i neec to see him a bit more!

I think Patrick, Johnson and White will perform well for us, Greer and Robinson arent going to be out long so I dont know why all of sudden when they get nicked up people panic and say we have no depth...the Coaches have brought in players they feel can compete.

yeah, eyeball test from camp told me that what had been an area of concern (cb depth) mike turn into one of our deepest positions after WR

IMO, playing more zone has been the key. Under GW, I think we played more man coverage than most teams. That required players with specific talents, esp speed and quickness. Most vet CBs are used to playing zone. And for the rooks, playing zone (mixed in with press man) will not require that speed/quickess skill set like playing in man does.
I think zone is easier to grasp, pick up and perform in, and once again, more "Player Friendly".
Good job, Spags.

I agree that its easier to get personnel that can play zone than man but zone is not easier to grasp. Man is easy, all you do is stay with the guy who lines up in front. Not everyone can do it but its an easy concept. Zones require passing off players, keep good depth, sound tackling, great instincts, and speed to break on the ball.

So, in man, the concept is easy, but you can hardly find anybody who can do it, in zone, the concept is more difficult, but you can find ALOT more people who can do it?
I guess thats why NFL teams put a premium on, and spend, #1 picks on CBs who play man..... cause its easy?
If the CB has talent (he has to have some, otherwise, he wouldnt be on our roster), he can be taught how to drop and where to go in zone coverage. And like I said about the vet CBs, even the rooks have some zone experience. and as long as he has the "want to", he can be taught to do whats needed.
But you can't teach that 4.4 speed and swivel hips.
Thats why most college and pro teams play zone. Thats why we are now playing it. Thats why, IMO, even without our starters, the CBs are still doing well.......
Player Friendly.

Johnny Patrick has impressed me the most. As for Corey White, I need to see more of him. Hopefully he will impress during the preseason games and in future practices.
