As long as we don't give up too much I'm all for it. I think given a chance to start he would be a 12ppg 8rpg player maybe even more.

Now rumors are that Warrick would go to Minny. So the Hornets would get Lopez and give up Dyson, Brad Miller's contract, and pick(s).
I could deal with all that. Can't see Demps giving Lopez more than $4-ish million/year though.

Man, our depth at PF & C is going to be crazy. It goes from being a weakness to our strongest, as far as having proven players. If Henry, Dyson, and the 2nd round picks is what we're really giving up to get two solid players, then that's a steal out of this world. I was hoping we'd keep Brian Roberts over Dyson before this so it looks like he'll stick even moreso now. They won't even hurt our cap either. Warrick is making $4 million per year with 2 years left and I don't think Lopez will cost more than $4-5 mil per year in a new deal.
Lopez is only 24 and still has plenty of room to get better. He averaged 11.3/6.3 on 24.5 minutes per games in 31 games started in his second season so he can definitely ball if he gets the right amount of minutes. Warrick was putting up 10 & 5 not too long ago. Can't ask for nothing better than Davis, Anderson, Lopez, Smith, and Warrick as a whole at PF and C. Demps should be the early favorite for executive of the year.

I felt Lopez was a interesting RFA option and secertly wished the Hornets would look into getting him but really didn't think his numbers would justify (an ASSUMED inflated contract) due to the fact the the Center market is so thin. I hope it works out and the Suns are not just jerking our chain b/c of the Gordon deal.
Help me out here? The Suns have made a qualifying offer to Lopez that he has not signed iirc. Can the Hornets still offer a contract to Lopez (Not saying it would be Max) but what would be max $ for him??
(And I know that since the Hornets and Suns are in trade talks it would not be kosher of the Hornets to undercut the negotiations by offering a contract at this time..)

Seems one report has the Hornets giving up a first(Conditional), Miller's contract, Dyson, and possibally a 2nd and getting Lopez and Warwick in return.
I'd do that deal. But can Ryan Anderson play SF?
That makes us deep ar C and PF as was stated above.
What about Davis at SF
PF - Anderson PF -Warwick
C- Lopez C- Smith
SF- Davis SF- Aminu
SG- Gordon SG- Rivers
PG- Vasquez PG- Roberts

I believe Warrick's contract has a team option for next year, so it would still be like acquiring an expiring deal. The contract for Lopez is the holdup from what I've read. He's being offered 3 years 15 million reportedly.
He's good depth at center, but nothing special. He'd probably see 15-20 minutes per game (even though I see him starting games with Ryan Anderson coming off the bench and getting more minutes), with more time against Bynum and Howard so that Davis doesn't take a beating while he's still adding muscle early in his career.
I still think you're looking at a 7 pt 4-5 rebound player. It's good to have depth in the post though.

No way. He's a paint protector. He has to play near the rim defensively. He's a PF/C just like Tim Duncan (just not with the post offense skills yet).
With Lopez, I think you're looking at a potential starting lineup of:
PG Vasquez
SG Gordon
SF Aminu
PF Davis
C Lopez
Anderson would be the sixth man and Rivers, depending on his development, would be the 7th man off the bench. Both could easily see more playing time than Lopez and Vasquez despite not starting. With Anderson and Lopez... Jason Smith might only see the floor when Davis is on the bench (10-15 minutes per game).
End of the game scenarios most likely would look like:
PG Rivers (depending on development)
SG Gordon
SF Aminu
PF Anderson
C Davis

From what I just read on yahoo the hornets would be giving up brad miller and two second round picks for Warrick and Lopez. Lopez would be a sign and trade for 3 years at $15,000,000.
If this is indeed the case, I think this is a great move by our front office.

This seems more realistic. IDK how Minny got into the negotiations, but we just took Miller and two 2nd's from them in the Jack 3-way. This seems like it could get dont with out a 3rd team IMO, but I prove constantly here, What do I know....

Not bad for a 6th and 7th man?? right? Also it's a shame the way Smith played last season he may get caught in a numbers game.. I was thinking before how do you keep this guy from getting more time, well I guess I may have my answer.
