Pelicans Primer for the casual fan please.

Please give me the gist of the team and what is going on.

What is Anthony Davis's contract situation like? Will we keep him?
My perception is that we can't land big-name free agents? True, if so why?
I can only name one other player Jru Holiday (?)
Apparently him being injured contributed to the teams slow start
I see that they've won 6 of the last 10. Are they on track now, or is this just a good run?
Does management stink?
Is there hope for the future? Will Davis get tired of playing for a non-winning franchise and bolt?

thetownedrunkard has disabled reputation
From what I can tell, management has made some very poor personnel decisions the last couple years in trades and fa signings. And the last coaching hire was also not very good.
Situation very similar to the saints in that you have one of the best players in the league and personnel decisions from the top have doomed the team.

Edit: we may be in 9th. one spot out of the playoffs.
